Dakota Tour Set to Launch July 5 with Six Nights of Racing

By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (June 26, 2026) — One of IMCA’s premier summer tours returns to the Northern Plains when the 2026 Dakota Tour roars to life with six consecutive nights of racing from July 5-10. The popular swing features Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds and Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars competing at six tracks across North Dakota and Saskatchewan, testing competitors on a variety of bullrings and high-banked ovals in pursuit of tour championships. The tour opens Sunday, July 5, at Nodak Speedway in Minot before crossing the border to Estevan Motor Speedway in Estevan, Saskatchewan, on Monday, July 6. Racing returns to North Dakota on Tuesday, July 7, at Williston Basin Speedway before continuing to Southwest Speedway in Dickinson on Wednesday, July 8, Dacotah Speedway in Mandan on Thursday, July 9, and concluding Friday, July 10, at Jamestown Speedway. A strong contingent of former champions, state titlists, and touring standouts has already committed to compete. The Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified field is led by two-time defending Dakota Tour champion Ethan Braaksma, who also won the [Read More]

Butt Edges Wroten in Photo Finish at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 27, 2026) — Carson Butt won one of the closest finishes of the season Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway, edging Leah Wroten by just .024 seconds in a thrilling Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature. A stout field of 30 Hobby Stocks signed in, and officials elected to start the entire field in the main event. Racing remained remarkably clean with only a pair of minor cautions as competitors raced three- and four-wide throughout the feature. Wroten battled to the front and led several circuits before the 15-year-old Butt mounted a late charge from the 10th starting position. The pair took the white flag virtually side by side, with Butt diving to the extreme inside exiting turn four to nip Wroten at the finish line. The Preston driver became the newest winner in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Kile Vohringer finished third while Tucker Richardson advanced from ninth to fourth. Kyle Jared completed the top five after charging from 16th, and Jaice Tuttle rallied from 20th to seventh. Diercks Drives [Read More]

Weldon Charges From 11th for Last-Lap Eagle Sprint Victory

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 27, 2026) — Gaige Weldon completed an incredible charge from 11th on the starting grid, throwing a race-winning slide job on Brandon Horton coming to the checkered flag to capture a thrilling RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature Saturday night at Eagle Raceway. Nathan Weiler paced the opening lap before Monty Ferriera raced into the lead on lap two. Horton worked his way forward and grabbed the top spot with seven circuits remaining, but Weldon was slicing through the field. The Hinton, Iowa, driver climbed to second after passing both Tyler Drueke and Horton with just a handful of laps left, then threw a perfectly timed slider entering the final corners to steal the victory on the final lap. It was his first win of the season. Horton settled for second, Drueke finished third, Ferriera crossed the stripe fourth, and Weiler completed the top five. Thompson Reclaims Lead for First Modified Victory of 2026 Nate Thompson regained the lead following a late restart and held off a charging Dustin Andersen to [Read More]
