Rain forces cancellation of Championship Night at US 36 Raceway

OSBORN, Mo. – Due to overnight thunderstorms and more forecasted rain later tonight, US 36 Raceway officials have decided to cancel racing for Aug. 16. This will conclude the championship chase for the season as US 36 will focus on the remaining specials scheduled for 2019. US 36 Raceway has two big post-season events planned as the Sprint Series of Nebraska joins the Saturday Sep. 28 show. Then on Oct. 9-12, it is the inaugural IMCA Missouri Nationals. Details are being finalized for the two events and more information will be released soon.

US 36 Raceway to crown champions this Friday

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. – Another season at US 36 Raceway has flown by and drivers have the opportunity to put their names in the record books this Friday, Aug. 16. The early part of the season was marred with rainouts and cancellations. As the season started to reach the end, drivers started to find a rhythm in the weekly schedule and the season-long battle is set to conclude this weekend for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Most is too much for IMCA Modified Blowout foes at US 36

(Aug. 2) – Every division had an increased payout on the line Friday at US 36 Raceway, but the IMCA Modifieds had the most to fight for with a $1,500 check going home with Josh Most, winner of the Modified Blowout presented by Lent Prints. Clay Hale and Steven Bowers started the race from the front row for the 25-lap race, with Bowers taking the advantage into the opening corner. While Bowers paced the race early, Most began working his way from eighth starting. Most moved through the field by running alternate lines from the rest of the field. Most had moved to third before the yellow flew on lap seven. On the restart, Most advanced to second while Chad Clancy moved into the picture as he took third, after starting 11th. A few laps after the restart, Most and Bowers made contact in turn one. Most let Bowers collect himself before making another attempt at taking the lead away. Baumli dominates Joe Crist Memorial Stock Car Shootout

Baumli showed competitors from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska the fast way around the oval in winning US 36 Raceway’s third annual Joe Crist Memorial Shootout for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Baumli drove away from the field following a restart late in the 30-lapper to pick up the $1,262 winner’s check. Polesitter Thomas Roberts had taken the early lead and paced the first several laps. Baumli worked the bottom of the track before settling into second. After an early caution, Baumli showed his dominance when he perfected the restart and took the lead away from Roberts. Multiple drivers had chances to move around Baumli but his restarts were too strong as the leader put several car lengths between his competitors each time the green flag came back out. Roberts, Travis Barker and Brad Whitney all had attempts from the second position on restarts and none could figure out how to match Baumli. Friday’s IMCA Modified Blowout at US 36 pays $1,500 to win

OSBORN, Mo. – As the season starts to come to a close with only two points nights remaining, US 36 Raceway has a lot going on this Friday, Aug. 2. Headlining the night is the Modified Blowout presented by Lent Prints. IMCA Modifieds are racing for $1,500 to win along with a 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth, while both the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win. The night will also feature Miller Welding Public Safety Night. All public safety workers get free admission to the night’s event. This includes police officers, firefighters, nurses, doctors, EMTs, correctional officers, current military and veterans. US 36 has more to offer as it is also Back to School Night. Joe Crist Memorial IMCA Stock Car Shootout this Friday

OSBORN, Mo. – This Friday, July 26, is the third annual Joe Crist Memorial Stock Car Shootout at US 36 Raceway. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are racing for $1,262 to win and $125 to start. Heat races pay $62 to win among other bonuses. The weekend also provides an opportunity for Stock Car drivers to run two big money shows. The following night, Saturday, July 27, Bethany Speedway will complete the Stock Car weekend with a $1,262 to win race as well. The race pays $90 to start. Between the two tracks, there is over $2,500 on the line if a driver can sweep the weekend. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Crist Memorial

OSBORN, Mo. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $1,262 to win US 36 Raceway’s Joe Crist Memorial Shootout. The third annual special is sponsored by the Crist family. Along with a minimum of $125 to start and $162 for the longest tow, the Friday, July 26 event pays $62 to each race winner, the driver who draws the number 62 pill and to the hard luck award recipient. There is no entry fee. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cards are also on the card, with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Sparks Plugs State and track points to be awarded. Pit passes are $35. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and military, $5 for kids ages 7-12 and free for six and under. Baumli adds his name to winners’ list at US 36

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (July 12) – J.J. Baumli prevailed in what was arguably the best IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature of the season Friday at US 36 Raceway. Brad Whitney had jumped to the early lead but the field never gave him more than a few car lengths, as second through sixth swapped several times between multiple drivers. After all the moving around, Mich Ross and Baumli emerged as the two most able to challenge Whitney. Ross ran the top and Baumli worked the middle to bottom lane of the track. They both converged on Whitney and with the laps winding down, the three found themselves three-wide for the lead with two to go. With racing room hard to come by, Ross got too high in turn four and left the battle to Whitney and Baumli. Baumli cleared for the lead as the white flew and earned his first checkered flag of 2019. Modified Madness rescheduled for Friday at US 36

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. – US 36 Raceway has tried twice to run Modified Madness presented by St. Joseph Beverage and twice the event has been plagued by weather. Attempt number three has been rescheduled for this Friday, June 28. IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win and $150 to start their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods will run the Wayne Hicks Memorial Shootout as part of the event, which will pay a $966 check to the winner. The 20-lap feature will pay $86 to start. At the end of the night, the SportMods will also run the Shocker Chassis Six Pack Shootout. The top six eligible drivers in votes will participate in the event at the end of the night. US 36 Raceway is determined to get Modified Madness presented by St. Joseph Beverage in, and it will be rescheduled for another date to be determined. Next Friday, June 28 at US 36 Raceway is the Wayne Hicks Memorial SportMod Shootout. Karl Kustoms NorthernSport Mods will have the spotlight as they will also participate in the Shocker Chassis Six Pack Shootout.
