Last-lap pass nets Clancy $1,000 IMCA Modified win at US 36

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (June 7) – With $1,000 on the line Friday night at US 36 Raceway, the IMCA Modifieds battled for 20 laps before the top check had a recipient. Chad Clancy led only the last lap but took home the big money and earned a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star ballot with the victory. Cory Wray had to settle for second while Scott Brown came back from an early race incident to finish third. Clay Hale and Jim Masoner Jr. made up the rest of the top five. After several early cautions, Wray and Clancy settled into the top two spots. Both ran the bottom of the track. Clancy could roll the center of the corner better than everyone on the race track but couldn’t get the drive off to move to the inside of the leader. With two laps to go, it looked as though Clancy had conceded and would settle for second. Instead Clancy went to the high side, somewhere he hadn’t been all night.  Clancy didn’t have [Read More]

Martens is final Sprint leader at US 36

By Jacob Blair  OSBORN, Mo. (May 31) – Jake Martens was the third and final leader in the Friday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at US 36 Raceway. Jack Potter took control early and looked to have the fastest car on the track. Late in the race, however, Potter entered a little high in turn three and slid over the berm, bringing out the caution.  Kenny Potter inherited the lead and held it for a few laps before Martens made the pass. Martens got the win and made a trip to Westfall GMC Victory Lane. Potter finished second with Matt Richards third.  Chad Clancy dominated the IMCA Modified feature while Steve Starmer picked up his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win of 2019 at US 36 Raceway.  Two weeks ago, Steven Clancy used patience to pick up the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature win. He did the same thing on this night, making a late-race move around Josh Munsen to pick up win number four of the season.

Patient Clancy prevails at US 36

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (April 26) – Patience paid off Friday night at US 36 Raceway for Steven Clancy. Nicholas Carpenter took the lead at the drop of the green flag for the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod 15-lapper and paced the first half of the race. During that time, Clancy began to slowly work his way through the field. After starting 10th, Clancy had to pick and choose where to make his passes. A late caution allowed him to close on Carpenter and in turn three Clancy made his move to the point with a few laps remaining.  Clancy then opened up a couple car length lead and made his second trip to Westfall GMC Victory Lane this season. Tim Eaton also had an impressive run, moving up 10 spots to finish second. Carpenter had a moment on the final lap in turn three but was able to make the save and finish third. Last week’s feature winner, Chris Wright, finished fourth and Jeffrey Sears rounded out the top five.

US 36 Modified win goes to Clancy

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (April 19) – IMCA Modifieds provided one of the best races of the night Friday at US 36 Raceway, with Chad Clancy leading the way in a green, white, checkered finish.  Brandon Williams had led the first 15 laps of the feature with Clancy draped all over the inside corner panel of his machine for most of that run. While those two battled, Steven Bowers Jr. closed in and made it a three-car battle.  The front three were primed for a battle to the end when the first caution of the race flew at lap 15. Clancy chose the inside lane on the Delaware double file restart. Bowers got the top and, on the restart, found the grip, shot around Clancy and crossed to the inside of Williams. He cleared for the lead in turn three as Williams slipped up allowing Clancy into second. Bowers was set to pick up his second win of the season at US 36, as he took the white flag with a healthy gap. Then [Read More]
