Patience pays off for defending champ at US 36

OSBORN, Mo. (May 17) – Steven Clancy showed why he holds the top spot in Karl Kustoms North­ern SportMod point standings at US 36 Raceway Friday night.

The defending track champion waited through the early laps before picking up the pace and work­ing his way through the field. Midway through the race he got to the back bumper of race leader Coleman Browning.

He made the move for the lead and picked up win number three this year. Browning finished se­cond, while Chris Wright finished third. Matt Lent looked strong early but faded to fourth and Randy Smith Jr. rounded out the top five. 

Mike Nichols also showed patience as he worked his way through the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field, then on the backside of halfway he moved around Mich Ross to take the lead. 

While Nichols checked out to take the win, Ross and Connor Masoner battled for second. Ross hung on for second with Masoner third. Alive Christofferson fought hard for a fourth place run in his first appearance of the season. Chad Clancy, also making his first appearance in a Stock Car this season, finished fifth.

Racing canceled for June 5 at U.S. 36, Bud Shootout postponed to June 19

OSBORN, Mo. – Due to overnight rains both Wednesday and Thursday night, track officials have canceled racing for June 5 at U.S. 36 Raceway. The Bud Shootout is postponed to June 19. The property and track is too wet and with the recently reworked track surface officials want to continue to strive for a smooth racing surface for both drivers and fans. The Bud Shootout on June 19 will feature the Sprint Series of Nebraska. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will also be in action with the Doyle Lance Remembrance Stock Car Race. Other classes will be announced at a later date.  Up next at U.S. 36 Raceway is a return to the weekly championship chase, and the racing on Friday, June 12 will feature the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.

Greenwood wins biggest share of IMCA RaceSaver green at US 36

(April 14, 2023) – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars attended from four different states, vying for the big money US 36 Raceway offered Friday night and the top check went home with Iowan Jake Greenwood.  At the drop of the green flag, Jacob Dye jumped to the front and appeared to have the car to beat before lapped traffic came into play and collected the leader, bringing his night to an end. Greenwood took the lead on the next restart and set a blistering pace, telling the other competitors “Catch me if  you can.”  Stu Snyder mounted a charge but could not match Greenwood as Tyler Drueke also moved toward the front. Greenwood never relinquished and pick up his first win on the high banks of US 36 Raceway, celebrating in Nextran Victory Lane. Snyder finished second and the always fast Drueke ended the feature in third. It’s a 10! Nichols tops Joe Crist Memorial at US 36

(July 29, 2022) – Mike Nichols had to give a 10 to his 10th IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win of the season.  Nichols became the sixth different winner in as many years US 36 Raceway has hosted the Joe Crist Memorial, earning $2,262 for the Friday night victory at Osborn.  “They had 30 cars there and any time you’ve got that many Stock Cars together, you’re bound to see good racing,” Nichols said following career checkers number 593 in the division.  Derrick Agee, Danny Holt and Brandon Williams were among the first to fight it out for the lead with each taking a turn out front. Agee held off Holt, who then charged by on the outside.
