NW Missouri State Fair races feature three IMCA divisions

BETHANY, Mo. – Three IMCA divisions headline Northwest Missouri State Fair Races at Bethany Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 1.  IMCA Modifieds vie for $1,200 to win and a minimum of $150 to start their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Modified heat winners earn $50 each. The hard charger in the feature will receive $100. Twenty-five laps in the feature will each pay $10 to the leader.  IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $800 to win and a minimum of $80 to start, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $750 to win and a minimum of $70 to start. Heat winners in those divisions earn $25, with $50 paid to the hard chargers. Lap money is $5 with 20 laps scheduled for the Stocks and 18 for the SportMods. Estes best in Stock Car thriller at Bethany

By Rick Staley  BETHANY, Mo. (July 27) – Jason Estes held off a succession of challengers to take the $1,262 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers Saturday at Bethany Speedway.  After showing plenty of speed in winning his heat race, Estes motored into the lead and stayed in front to the checkers. Mike Van Genderen bounced back from a foray through the infield to finish second. Van Genderen has drawn the pole start with J.J. Baumli, winner of Friday’s Joe Crist Memorial Shootout event at US 36 Raceway on the outside. Van Genderen took the initial lead with Baumli challenging every inch of the way. Sears outruns Bethany foes for first win

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo. (July 13) – Jeffrey Sears celebrated his first-ever Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature win Saturday at Bethany Speedway. Jason Nelson took the early lead with close racing in the pack behind him. Nelson continued to lead with Mitchell Morris close on his heels until Sears mounted his charge to the front, passing both for the top spot. Sears bobbled slightly in turn three, allowing the always-fast and defending track champion Josh Munsen to close in and challenge for the lead with the two racing side-by-side to the checkers.  Battling wheel-to-wheel and door-to-door, they made slight contact coming to the checkers with Sears picking up his first feature win. As Sears celebrated in NAPA Auto Parts victory lane, Mun­sen settled for second with Colton Nelson coming to the line third.

Nearly perfect, Munsen is best at Bethany

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo. (June 1) – Josh Munsen was nearly perfect Saturday night on his way to his first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory of the season at Bethany Speedway. Jason Nelson used a front row starting position to take the early lead, only to see Munsen power by on the low line. Munsen held off the challenges of heat race winners Coleman Browning and Chris Wright as the race progressed. Colton Nelson made his presence felt racing through the pack to go after Mun­sen and finish a very close second. Browning was third. Chad Clancy collected the IMCA Modified checkers.

Wright is all right at Bethany

By Rick Staley  BETHANY, Mo. (May 4) – Chris Wright found the right way around Bethany Speedway Saturday night, en route to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature win.  The field of 21 was slowed by just a single caution. R.J. Dishong took the front early only to see Wright roar past. Wright continued to lead as Coleman Browning challenged both high and low but could not find a way around. As the only yellow flag of the feature flew, Colton Nelson used the restart to his advantage, got by Browning for second and set his sights on the leader. Wright, however, went on to pick up the win with Nelson second and Browning third.  Chad Clancy cruised to the IMCA Modified victory and Steve Starmer got the best of tenacious Carson Masoner for top IMCA Sunoco Stock Car honors.

Turner turns in first IMCA Stock Car win

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo. (April 20) – C.J. Turner picked up his first-ever IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory Saturday at Bethany Speedway. Turner set a blistering pace, getting out front early and showing the rest of the field the fast way around with heat winners Conner and Carson Masoner trying to run him down to no avail.  Corey Piffer took his turn challenging Turner but faded in the closing laps. Turner was not be denied and proved the Jamesport Mafia is alive and well as he picked up his first Stock Car feature win. Conner Masoner passed Piffer and younger brother Carson for second place with a late-race charge. Carson Masoner battled Piffer to the line and claimed third. Cory Wray was the IMCA Modified winner and Garrett Nelson topped the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main.

Rudolf is best in Bethany SportMod main

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo. (April 6) – Chase Rudolf has a Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature win to  show for his first-ever visit to Bethany Speedway. R.J. Dishong used a front row starting position to take the lead and appear to be set for the Satur­day win until a caution bunched the field back up. On the mid-race restart, Rudolf made a daring move on the high side of turn two to take the lead from Dishong.  Rudolf gradually pulled away from the pack and captured the win. Jeffrey Sears moved to the inside of the track and claimed second with Randy Smith Jr. a solid third. Defending champion Josh Munsen was fourth and Colton Nelson battled back from an early race mishap to place fifth. Mike Nichols set a blistering pace and cruised to his second IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Missouri  victory of the weekend. Opening night is Saturday at Bethany Speedway

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo. – Historic Bethany Speedway roars into the 2019 racing season this Saturday, April 6 with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. With 70 degree temperatures forecast come and enjoy the comfort of covered grandstands and yard chair box seats for the low grandstand admission price of $10. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., grandstand gates open at 6 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m. Bethany Speedway is proud to welcome back Toot Toot Family Restaurant and Lounge, HyVee Grocery, Pettijohn’s Auto Center, Advanced Tire, Judy Staley Photography, Lake Road Warehouse, Boller Motorsports and Reemers Designs as sponsors for 2019.

2019 drivers’ meeting set for US 36, Bethany

CAMERON, Mo. – The drivers’ meeting for the 2019 season at US 36 Raceway and Bethany Speedway is set for 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at the Cameron Community Center. The drivers’ meeting is combined for both race tracks so drivers can get all their paperwork completed for both tracks if they choose to. The meeting will allow drivers and teams to register their car and reserve pit stalls for the upcoming season. Registration for the 2019 season for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is $60 and $50 for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods is $50. Pit stalls are $60 to reserve for the 2019 season. The meeting will also include a discussion on the updated 2019 general rules and teams can bring any questions they have. Booher bests Bethany foes for first win

(July 28) – Hometown hero Mitch Booher took the lead at the drop of the green and paced every lap on his way to his first-ever Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature win Saturday at Bethany Speedway. Matt Lent challenged Booher every lap but placed a very close second with Steve Stammer third. Colton Nelson edged younger brother and heat winner for fourth. Josh Truman topped the IMCA Modifieds and Anthony Witham topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event.
