McCollum scores first Northern SportMod win

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 18) – A driver who has enjoyed considerable success over the years at Ar­lington Raceway found his way to victory lane Saturday night. Jeff McCollum prevailed in an IMCA Unhinged Pizza Northern SportMod feature that saw its fair share of cautions. The victory was the first in the class for McCollum, who owns 102 checkers in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car divisions as well as five Arlington track titles in the full-bodied division. First in the MN 93 IMCA Modified main went to Brandon Beckendorf. Trevor Serbus topped the 95.7 the Rock IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature and Matthew Schauer regained the lead with two laps left in winning the B & B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car main. Cory Probst was the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock winner and Bubba Brown led the dis­tance in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact contest.

Late charge by Larson leads to Sibley County Shootout checkers 

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 1) – Jeff Larson took the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers and was joined by Luke Sathoff and Matt Speckman as the big winners money-wise at Wednesday’s Sibley County Shootout. Larson made his move to the front with four laps left in the Arlington Raceway show, passing Sathoff and leading to the $1,500 checkers. Sathoff took second and his position was drawn for an extra $500 bonus from Sunoco NAPA of Arlington. Speckman also received a $500.00 bonus for his 10th place finish. Damon Murty, David Moriarty and Dean Cornelius rounded out the top five. Hard charger Shaun Bruns was sixth. Derek Green chased Sathoff early before falling out with mechanical problems. The only caution was on lap nine for a spun car and Larson, Murty and Moriarty were all on the move following the restart. LaTour triumphs at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 28) – Kevin LaTour won his first feature in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car division Saturday at Arlington Raceway, leading from start to finish in the green-to-checkered race. Matt Speckman started 10th and worked his way through the field to challenge LaTour but ended up second ahead of Chad Schroeder, who got by Brent Uecker on the last lap to take third. Brandon Beckendorf bested the MN 93 IMCA Modified field again and Trevor Serbus wheeled his 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car around the topside of the track to win another feature. Matt Looft crossed the finish line first in the Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod feature while Alex Dostal prevailed in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact main. Cory Probst scored another Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock victory.

Arlington Raceway hosts Aug. 1 Sibley County Shootout special

ARLINGTON, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars bat­tle it out for $1,500 to win and a minimum of $100 to start at Arlington Raceway’s Wednesday, Aug. 1 Sibley County Stock Car Shootout. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $750 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for a $400 top check that evening. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, re­gional, Minnesota State and local track points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Grand­stand admission is $15 and pit passes are $30. Hewitt hauls home Arlington hardware

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 21) – Karl Hewitt Jr. clinched the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock feature Saturday at Arlington Raceway as he led from start to finish. Hewitt was challenged by Cory Probst for 11 of the 12 laps but on lap 10, Probst dived into turn one and spun himself around causing a caution flag. He restarted at the tail and in the following two laps was able to move up to fifth. That caution gave Brad Becker a little breathing room as he challenged Hewitt for the next two laps but had to settle for second ahead of Mike Christensen. Brandon Beckendorf was the MN 93 IMCA Modified winner and Trevor Serbus topped the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature by a straightaway. Rick Mees has gotten back and dirt and got his first B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car victory of the season. Matt Looft scored the Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod victory and Scott Porter paced the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact main.

Probst wins 100th Saturday at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 23) – Cory Probst raced his way into the history book on a historical Saturday night at Arlington Raceway. Probst won for the 100th time in his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock career, after starting 10th and racing into contention by just the fourth circuit. Karl Hewitt had the lead ahead of Steve Kroyer – driving Probst’s 2017 car – but pulled in on the backstretch with mechanical problems. By the next lap, Probst weaved around Kroyer and had command of the race. He led the rest of the way for the milestone win. Kroyer held tight for second and Jed Trebelhorn took third. Probst became the 100th driver in IMCA’s modern era to reach the 100 win mark and the record fifth to do so at Arlington. Stien scores RaceSaver Sprint win at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 26) – Mike Stien won his first feature of the year in the 95.7 the Rock IMCA RaceSaver Sprint feature Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Stien led from start to finish with Bill Johnson taking second and Justin Allen third. Brandon Beckendorf won for the third time in as many MN 93 IMCA Modified starts at Arlington this season, taking the latest checkers after starting ninth. Matt Looft also started deep in the field and motored to a third straight Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod victory. Dan Mackenthun prevailed in a battle with Matt Schauer for top B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car honors. A lap six restart gave Cory Probst the opportunity he was looking for as he drove to the lead and eventual Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock checkers. Alan Lahr of Nicollet won his first feature of the year in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts.

Serbus scores IMCA RaceSaver Sprint win at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 19) – After taking the lead on the 13th circuit, Trevor Serbus stayed in front to the finish in winning Saturday’s 95.7 The Rock IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at Arlington Raceway. Neal Stevens paced the eventful first 12 laps before Serbus used the high side of the track to take the front spot. Brandon Allen made a late charge to edge Stevens in the race for second. Brandon Beckendorf motored to career win number 99 in the MN 93 IMCA Modified feature and Matt Looft recorded a second straight Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod victory. Dean Cornelius prevailed in a B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car barnburner with Matt Speck­man and 12th starting Cory Probst collected his second local Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock checkers of the season. Scott Porter led all but one lap of the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature to win for the first time this year.

Luinenburg gets 100th Hobby Stock win at Arlington’s season championship night

READING, Minn. – Justin Luinenburg would have liked to have gotten his career 100th IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature win before his final race of the season, but he’s happy things worked out the way they did. Luinenburg collected the landmark checkers Saturday at Arlington Raceway, when the Sept. 23 season championship program doubled as a night to honor the late Scott Schoknecht. “It was nice to get my 100th win on that night,” said Luinenburg, from Reading, Minn. “I knew Scotty pretty good so it was special to win at his memorial race.” The victory was Luinenburg’s 23rd of the season and 71st in the last three years. Hatlestad, Zevenbergen take top checks, Luinenburg, Porter get big Arlington wins

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 23) – While Clint Hatlestad and Elijah Zevenbergen took $1,500 victo­ries, Justin Luinenburg and Kyren Porter were history-making winners Saturday at Arlington Raceway. More than 200 cars were in the pits for the season championship night program, held in honor of the late Scotty Schoknecht. Hatlestad topped the IMCA Modified main, earning a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, while Zevenbergen was fastest in an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field pared from 42 entries. Luinenburg earned his career 100th victory in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and Porter became the first driver to win an Arlington Raceway track title in the Mach-1 Sport Compact divi­sion.
