ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 22, 2023) – Action was fast, furious and competitive Saturday at Arlington Raceway.
The IMCA Hobby Stock feature saw Scott Porter lead from the front row but a yellow came out for a spinning car which restarted the field nine laps in. With only four laps to go, Cory Probst once again pounced and got around both Taylor Manderfield and Porter to take the lead and win. Porter took second and Manderfield was third.
Jason Bolte was the early leader starting up front in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature but the biggest battle was between Alan Lahr and Justin Dose for the positions directly behind him.
With one lap to go, Lahr was able to get a grip on the track and passed Bolte for the win. Bolte and Dose were next across the stripe.
The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature went flag to flag with Jeff McCollum taking the lead right off but two laps later he left the track.
Jeff Carter led four laps until Matt Looft moved forward and worked his way up front from his seventh place start. He moved around lapped traffic and got distance between himself and Carter to win. Jeff Lloyd stuck with Carter the distance to take third place.
The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main saw Mike Stien start outside pole and stay in the top spot for the entire race to win.
A caution was thrown on lap four but Stien remained the leader with Matt Johnson charging toward the front from his 12th place start to give Stien a run. He got ahead of Stien after another restart but Stien captured the lead again on the backstretch. Johnson has his dad Bill behind him, along with Trevor Serbus to contend with.
In the end, Stien won the race with Matt Johnson second and Bill Johnson third.
Twenty-two cars started the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature.
Luke Trebelhorn and Kevin Latour led the stout field with three- and four-wide racing around the track behind Daniel Eckblad. Looft exited with a flat tire to give second to Dan Mackenthun, who raced side-by-side with Eckblad before ending as the runner-up. Tim Pessek took third.
And Trent Loverude led the first 10 laps of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, holding off Clint Hatlestad until Brandon Beckendorf got in the mix between them. By the 11th lap, Beckendorf was the leader with Hatlestad in second and Loverude taking third. They finished in the same order.
