Sites tops IMCA Modifieds at The Hill

MONROETON, Pa. (June 18) – Brad Sites topped the IMCA Modified feature on a night when threatening skies, a few raindrops during intermission and green blobs on the weather radar were concerns at The Hill Speedway. After a spin in turn one by Gary Lamphere forced a second try at starting the feature, Keith Lamphere, Shawn Bruce, and Tyler Stoddard battled for the early lead. J.W. Lamphere brought out the caution on lap eight and Stoddard dropped from contention with a quick pit stop during the caution before Bruce took command on the restart. Brad Sites made an inside move to take the runner-up spot from Keith Lamphere on the 10th lap and the battle was on between Bruce and Sites. Defending track champion Keith Jack Lamphere snagged the third spot and a lap 11 caution bunched up the lead trio. Hometown hero wins NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series feature at The Hill

By Evan Canfield MONROETON, Pa. (June 4) – Getting to The Hill Speedway for Keith Jack Lamphere is not a difficult task. The challenger fell off the pace before a lap eight caution, when Sites’ brother Eddie moved up to contend.  The two would ran nose to tail until lap 14 when a spinning lapped car collected both Sites cars, sending them to the rear of the field and handing the lead over to Shawn Bruce, who continued to run up [Read More]

Friday nights are right for IMCA Modifieds at The Hill Speedway in PA

MONROETON, Pa. – Eddie McKernan liked IMCA Modifieds as a driver. He likes them as a promoter, too, with the division penciled in for more than 20 Friday night shows this season at McKernan’s The Hill Speedway in Monroeton. “I ran IMCA here (for two years) and what I liked best as a racer was the national set of rules,” McKernan said. “As a promoter, the division is pretty big around here. We probably have 20-25 guys in the area and some of them have been IMCA for years.”  “IMCA Modifieds,” he added, “are just an all-around good class.” An April 2 practice precedes opening night the following Friday. The point season at the newest track in the Dirt Works Eastern Region begins on April 16, with the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season continuing through Sept. 3. The Hill Speedway hosts two NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series dates, the $750 to win event on June 4 and the $1,069 to win Billy Maynard Memorial Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier on July 2.  A street [Read More]
