Benton County Frostbuster rescheduled to Sunday, Stuart opens tonight

VINTON, Iowa – Wednesday’s scheduled IMCA Frostbuster at Benton County Speedway has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 4.  Track officials made that announcement after determining they could not get the dirt oval at Vinton race-ready for the number of cars expected to compete on the original date.  Along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be on the Sunday card.  Racing starts at 5 p.m. and there will be Easter eggs for the kids. More information about the Benton County Frostbuster is to be announced. Frostbuster Week starts tonight (Tuesday) at Stuart Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, Stocks, SportMods and Hobbies also run at Frostbusters Thursday, April 1 at Independence Motor Speedway; Friday, April 2 at Mar­shalltown Speedway; and Saturday, April 3 at Boone Speed­way.

Berry continues hot streak at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds  STUART, Iowa (Aug. 19) – Hall of Fame Night saw Tom Berry Jr. end the Wednesday night race program at Stuart Speedway in victory lane. Scott Bash and Kollin Hibdon showed the way early. Hibdon led until lap 18 when Berry came knocking. Berry threaded the needle between Hibdon and a lapped car to take over the top spot and went on to take the win.  Hibdon finished second with Josh Gilman third. Dallon Murty was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner while Brandon Cox worked his way to the front and held off a charge from Dylan Nelson to take the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers. Brayton Carter prevailed in a two-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod shootout with Brian Osan­towski. Mitchell Bunch shot to the front on the first lap and drove off to the Mach-1 Sport Compact win.

Daniels cruises in Stuart Stock Car feature

By Josh Reynolds  STUART, Iowa (Aug. 5) – Bob Daniels worked his way to the front, then cruised to the Wednes­day night IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win at Stuart Speedway.  Brad Derry and Brock Badger showed the way to the green flag but Daniels used the bottom of the track to take over the lead just before halfway and stayed in front to the checkers. Badger fin­ished second with Buck Schafroth third.       Tim Ward led the way through traffic and led Tom Berry Jr. across the stripe in the IMCA Modified main event. Dylan Nelson took charge at the crossed flags and led to the finish of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. There was no catching Brayton Carter after he rocketed from seventh starting to the lead two laps into the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Hunter Patrick topped a thriller for the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Aug. 19 will be Hall of Fame Night.

Carter continues hot streak at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 29) – Brayton Carter was back in victory lane Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway. Dusty Masolini set the pace for the first half of the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Carter had to work for it and on lap 12 he cashed in to take the lead and go on to the win. Masolini held on for second.  Zack Rawlins led the first couple laps of the IMCA Modified main until Tom Berry Jr. blasted his way from 10th to the lead on lap four. A caution on lap 14 gave the rest of the field a chance, but there was no catching the 11X car as Berry went on to the win.  Dallon Murty made it interesting on the top side but Todd VanEaton was too strong on the bottom and went on to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win. Shute dominates Ron Little Memorial on record night at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 2) – Todd Shute was in command from start to finish, during a record setting Ron Little Memorial at Stuart Speedway. Shute led all 35 laps of the IMCA Modified feature, working through lapped traffic before a late restart. He held off Cayden Carter in the final circuits for the $2,055 payday. Tom Berry Jr., Jeff Aikey and Nick Roberts completed the top five. Shute and Cory Sauerman were up front for the start of the 21st annual event. Shute took com­mand early with Roberts and Ethan Braaksma in tow, then dominated through lapped traffic until a caution brought the field to a halt with six laps to go.  Carter and Aikey traded sliders but it was Shute leading all the way to the finish to take the win. 21st Ron Little Memorial Thursday at Stuart

STUART, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds chase a $2,055 top check and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth at Stuart Speedway’s Thursday, July 2 Ron Little Memorial. The Modified feature pays $1,055 to the runner-up, $755 for third, $555 for fourth and a minimum of $205 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for a possible $1,905 to win, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $1,000. Entry fee in those three divisions is $25.  IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $550 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win.  Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. for the draw/redraw show with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $7 for students ages 11-16 and free for kids ages 10 and under. Berry tops IMCA Modified feature at Durbin Memorial

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 24) – Tom Berry Jr. turned away all challengers and went home with both the IMCA Modified feature win and a $1,000 check from Stuart Speedway’s Jake Durbin Memorial. Dylan Thornton and Jordy Nelson were on the front row for Wednesday’s main event. Nelson led early with Todd Shute waiting in the wings. A lap six caution slowed the field and when flagman Jamie Schirm waved the green it was Berry powering to the lead with Richie Gustin in tow. Berry had some challenges but stayed tough out front as he went on to the win. Already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Berry crossed the stripe ahead of Gustin with Cayden Carter third. Tim Ward was fourth and Shute fifth. Saturday start for IMCA Midwest Madness Tour

HARLAN, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for a minimum of $1,000 to win each night of the Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour. The tour starts Saturday, June 27 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, then travels to The New Raceway Park Speedway at Jefferson, S.D., on Sunday, June 28; Clay County Fair Speedway at Spencer on Monday, June 29; Fairmont, Minn., Raceway on Tuesday, June 30; Kossuth County Speedway in Algona on Wednesday, July 1; Stuart Speedway on Thursday, July 2; and Crawford County Speedway in Denison on Friday, July 3. All shows are draw/redraw and each Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Stock Car heavyweights square off at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 10) – The drivers running 1-2 in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career wins ran 1-2 in a battle for the ages Wednesday at Stuart Speedway.  Brad Derry and Shawn Ritter lined up on the front row. Mike Nichols jumped to the lead on lap one and after a couple of cautions looked to cruise to the win, but a caution on lap 17 bunched the field and gave 11th starting Damon Murty a shot.  The top two put on a show over the last two laps and it was Nichols with a couple of strong moves to hang onto the lead and take the win by a half a car length. Murty finished in second with Todd VanEaton, Josh Daniels and Buck Schafroth the rest of the top five.  John Davis and Scott Bash led the IMCA Modified field to the green flag. Zevenbergen, Logue land Dirt Duel wins

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 3) – Elijah Zevenbergen and Johnathon Logue were $3,000 feature winners on the third night of Stuart Speedway’s Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel. Zevenbergen grabbed the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers ahead of second-year speedster Dallon Murty Wednesday night while Logue beat Cody Thompson to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod finish by not much more than the width of his bumper.  Zevenbergen and Todd VanEaton brought the Stock Car field to the green flag. Zevenbergen took control early in the 50-lapper as Murty worked his way through to second just before a caution came out on lap 21.  Murty bobbled on lap 40 and allowed his father Damon to take over second place. The caution flew again on lap 44 and gave the field one more chance at Zevenbergen.
