Bartz survives, thrives, wins again at Shawano

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (May 25) – Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod ace Jordan Bartz stole the show Saturday night with a last-lap pass for her second Shawano Speedway feature win of the year.   Bartz, racing without a left-side door panel after surviving a multi-car pileup on lap one, came from the back of the pack after repairs were made to her car by her crew on pit lane. Most of the 24-car field was involved in that melee. Once the cars were removed from the track, a handful went to pit lane for repairs, including Bartz.  When the race resumed it was Teagan Wudstrack grabbing the lead. Jason Jach went to the high line to take the lead on lap three. Bartz began working her way through traffic toward the front of the field.  A late-race caution brought about a one-lap shootout to decide the race. Jach was committed the high side as he had been all race long while Bartz got to the inside entering turn three.   The pair was even up exiting turn four, with [Read More]

Lamberies roars to Shawano feature win

By Scott Owen  SHAWANO, Wis. (May 4) – Lucas Lamberies may be a rookie in the IMCA Modified division, but the three-time Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod champion certainly knows his way around the Historic Half-mile.   Lamberies showed that the change in division was no obstacle in winning races as he outdueled his good friend Wyatt Block with a last-lap pass for the feature win Saturday at Shawano Speedway.  Block battled Brekken Kleinschmidt side-by-side for the first two laps with Kleinschmidt leading lap one while Block led lap two by a bumper.  Lap three saw Block begin to put some distance between himself and the field.  With Block leading, the action behind him was hot between Kleinschmidt, Konnor Wilinski, Lamberies, and Marcus Yarie. Lamberies, Kleinschmidt, and Wilinski exchanged second through fourth numerous times throughout the race as Block looked to be in control.   A late-race caution flag brought out a restart with only three laps remaining. Over the final two laps, Lamberies went to the high side of the track and ran down Block. A slight bobble by Block [Read More]

Yarie, Barkholtz go wire to wire at Shawano

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (July 31) – Marcus Yarie and Jordan Barkholtz led all twenty laps of their respective features IMCA features during the midweek show at Shawano Speedway. It was the third feature win of the season for each driver. Yarie is a two-time track champion and the current point leader in the IMCA Modified division, and any time he puts his art skills to good use and draws a front row feature starting position one can bet that it’s going to be a long night for his competition. Yarie led every lap of the feature as Wyatt Block, Lance Arneson and Jerry Wilinski battled hard behind him for position. In the end it was Yarie cruising to victory followed by Block, Arneson, Jerry Wilinski and Konnor Wilinski. Barkholtz started outside the front row of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature by virtue of the draw. As Barkholtz led, Lucas Lamberies and Kyle Raddant battled for second. By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (July 28) – Marcus Yarie utilized his art skills in drawing the pole for the IMCA Modified feature, then led all 20 laps for the $1,000 win Saturday at Shawano Speedway. By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 16) – Second-generation racer Bryce Clements scored his first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod career feature win Saturday night at Shawano Speedway.
