Wilinski, Christians win again at Shawano

SHAWANO, Wis. (June 18) – Saturday was a night of familiar faces in victory lane at Shawano Speedway, as Jerry Wilinski secured his second straight IMCA Modified feature and Jeremy Chris­tians outdueled Travis VanStraten for his second IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory of the season. 

Norman Walbruck snagged the lead on lap one of the Modified and held that spot until lap five when Wilinski charged to the front.  Wilinski was in control for the duration of the race for his second consecutive win.

Kevin Feck eventually prevailed in the battled for second with Brekken Kleinschmidt taking third. 

Kurt Olson took the lead at the start of the Stock Car main event before giving way to Mike Schmidt on lap four.  Behind Schmidt it was Christians, VanStraten and Trent Nolan moving to­ward the front of the field. 

Schmidt, Christians, and VanStraten went three-wide for the lead on lap 10.  Christians eventu­ally eased ahead of the field, but not for long as VanStraten took the lead on lap 12.

Christians and VanStraten battled side by side over the next few laps with Christians eventually gaining the advantage. In the end it was Christians for the win followed by VanStraten, Nolan, Nate Michonski and Schmidt.

Rookie Andy Klosterman led the opening lap of the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature before Jason Jach took over on lap two with an outside pass. Jach remained committed to the outside groove of the track for the duration of the race and was not to be denied his first win of the year.

Lamberies now two for two at Shawano

(May 12) – Lucas Lamberies hustled back from Iowa to race Saturday night at Shawano Speedway.  It proved to be a good move for the Clintonville teenager as he won his second Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature in a row to start the season. Kyle Raddant and then Jordan Barkholtz held the early lead.  By lap eight Lamberies moved to second on the track. On lap 13, Barkholtz got high in turn two and brushed the outside wall.  That was the opening Lamberies needed as he stormed past Barkholtz to take the top spot. Lamberies led the rest of the way for his second win in a row.  Barkholtz held on for second, followed by Jordan Bartz, Todd Wiese, and Raddant. Mike Mullen was the IMCA Modified winner and Travis Van Straten paced the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main.

Lamberies rules Shawano IMCA Modified main

By Joe Orsini SHAWANO, Wis. (May 27, 2023) – Former track champion Lucas Lamberies reigned in Saturday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Shawano Speedway. The main event saw ageless wonder Jerry Muenster start on the pole. When the green dropped, though, outside polesitter Nicholas Holtger launched into the early lead while Jeremie Hedrick put his familiar C19 machine into the runner-up spot. That lead duo set the pace for the first nine laps until caution flew, restacking the field. The ensuing restart had Holtger lead Hedrick, Jordan Bartz, Lamberies and Marcus Yarie back to racing speeds. Lamberies and Bartz wasted no time and worked to the front, where they traded the top spot back and forth with each driver having to run low or high in the door-to-door scrap. Lamberies eventually locked up sole possession of the lead and held on when the double checkers flew. Clements notches first career victory

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 16) – Second-generation racer Bryce Clements scored his first Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMod career feature win Saturday night at Shawano Speedway. The win was an early Father’s Day gift for his dad Scott, a former local sportsman racer. Kaden Besaw led the early stages while Clements fell in line behind him. Clements used the out­side line to his advantage to take the lead on lap three and Kyle Raddant soon began to battle Besaw for second. Raddant eventually would get past Besaw, as would Jordan Barkholtz. The race was marred by a se­ries of late cautions but Clements survived every challenge. Multi-time track champion Eddie Muenster scored his first local IMCA Modified win of the year and Travis Van Straten brought home win number four in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action.
