Yarie, Schmidt, Christians cruise to Shawano wins

SHAWANO, Wis. (June 5) – While last week was the unofficial start to summer, the weather took a
week to catch up. Marcus Yarie, Jeremy Christians and Jayden Schmidt all beat the heat and their respective
fields to find victory lane Saturday at Shawano Speedway.

The IMCA Modifieds saw Yarie power past Marcus Hoeppner and Kevin Feck
in the early laps to grab the top spot. Behind Yarie, Wyatt Block was
trying to get into the battle for his second straight feature win as
he got by Feck for the runner-up spot as Hoeppner slipped to fourth.

Jordan Bartz charged to fifth but ran out of laps in
the quest for more. 

Christians decided he’d be the one to steal
the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car spotlight. Christians motored to the front early and never looked
back as he picked up another win in The Class Too Tough To Tame. Travis Van Straten secured the runner-up spot, getting by Chucky Forstner and Kyle
Frederick.

Forstner took third with Frederick fourth.
Dan Michonski overcame mechanical issues in his heat race
to take fifth.

And in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Teagan Wudstrack jumped out early as Jeffrey Teske and Matthew Radtke tried to best each other for second.

As Teske
and Radtke were trying to settle things, Schmidt joined the battle and
grabbed second, then began to
track the leader.

A few laps later, Schmidt pounced and took the leadfrom Wudstrack. Schmidt would not relinquish the lead, picking upanother win. Teske was second while Tyler Sobiescyk cutthrough the field to third with Radtke fourth. Wudstrack settledfor fifth.

Bartz pockets top payday at Shawano

(June 24, 2023) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds rolled out to race for $1,000 to win Saturday at Shawano Speedway and Jordan Bartz raced straight to victory lane to claim the check. Bartz utilized the momentum on the high side of the oval to grab the opening lap lead from her outside front row starting spot. Lucas Lamberies put on a show behind her, moving from eighth to fourth by lap three and then to third by lap four. A caution seven laps in slowed the pace and saw Bartz lead Marcus Yarie, Lamberies, Konnor Wilinski and Brekken Kleinschmidt back to green. As Yarie and Lamberies fell into a battle for second, Bartz looked to put some distance on the pair as they raced side-by-side. That breathing room was short-lived as Lamberies cleared Yarie on lap eight and put immediate pressure on the 12 of Bartz. Hall of Fame Night checkers fly for Wilinski

(June 1) – Jerry Wilinski was the IMCA Modified winner on Hall of Fame Induction Night at Shawano Speedway.  Wilinski skated by Tim Rothe on the second lap to grab the lead in the Saturday main event. Wilinski checked out from the field until a lap nine caution brought the pack back together.  The yellow flag was the only thing that slowed Wilinski as he again jumped to a dominating lead on the restart. Wyatt Block, Rothe and Konnor Wilinski were left to sort things out for second at the line with Block grabbing the spot followed by Roth and Konnor Wilinski in the top four. Not a drop in the bucket – Shawano’s Racing for a Reason raises another $25K in childhood cancer fight

SHAWANO, Wis. (June 17, 2023) – IMCA Stock Car driver Luke Lemmens might have gone home with the big check, but the big winners at Shawano Speedway’s Racing for a Reason Night were St. Vincent Hospital and the battle against childhood cancers. The 12th annual event on June 17 brought a season-best 130 cars to the Northeast Wisconsin speed plant. Parking spots were at a premium as fans packed a very full grandstand and helped raise another $25,000 for the Child Life Services department at the children’s hospital in Green Bay. Most of $23,000 was raised selling bucket drop tickets for drawings for contents of 173 donated baskets containing everything from a television to Packer tickets to racing T shirts and a diecast of Nick Anvelink’s first IMCA Modified, and another $2,000 through a raffle for a hunting rifle donated by a local gun shop.
