Shawano Speedway welcomes Ken Schrader for Hall of Fame Night

SHAWANO, Wis. (July 22, 2023) – There were some new faces in victory lane at the legendary half-mile Shawano Speedway Saturday night. Up first was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division and the man of the hour would be Mitch Stankowski as he jumped to an early lead from sixth starting and into the lead by two. Travis VanStraten and Dan Michonski followed in what became a three-car breakaway. Stankowski held his ground, fought off the challenges of his fellow competitors and was not denied as he raced his no. 5 to victory lane. “It’s nice to win and I want to do it again,” he said. “We definitely have a lot of stout competition here.” As the checkered flags flew at the line in the $3,000 to win Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature it was Johnny Whitman, Mike Wedelstadt, Mike Mullen and Konnor Willinski finishing in that order. SHAWANO, Wis. (Aug. 11) – Sometimes it all just comes together. Nary a caution flag flew all night Saturday at Shawano Speedway as fans were treated to top-notch, on-track action. Dan Michonski brought home his third feature win to obtain the big $1,000 payday before a stout IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field full of multi-feature winners, track champions and national champi­ons. Michonski was the class of the field, though, and led every lap en route to victory. The racing be­hind Michonski was hot and heavy with Travis Van Straten finishing second, Trent Nolan third, Gary Kasperek fourth, and Shawn Wagner fifth. Lance Arneson advanced 10 spots for his second IMCA Modified feature win of the year while Lucas Lamberies scored Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win number six, holding off Kyle Rad­dant to accomplish the feat.

(Aug. 15) – It almost felt like déjà vu all over again Saturday as Konnor Wilkinski, Chucky Forstner and Jayden Schmidt returned to victory lane for the second week in a row at Shawano Speedway.   Lap one of the IMCA Modified feature saw Kevin Feck go from third to first to lead the field. As Feck led, Wilinski began to work through traffic after starting 10th.
