Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move. Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit. (June 13) – The opening leg of the third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals picked up right where the 2018 edition left off, with a pair of Jakes slugging it out for the Thursday night feature win atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. This time, Jake Bubak turned the tables on defending race winner Jake Martens, battling into the lead on the 17th round and racing on to the stripe ahead of Jason Martin and Martens. “I feel like we got one taken away from us last year. We’re here to win the whole thing this time,” Bubak commented after putting himself atop the point charts and in prime position to secure a lock-in position to Saturday’s $3,000-to-win finale. Set for a $3,000-to-win event that could potentially climb to as much as $4,500 with lap money included is set for this Thursday through Saturday night, June 13-15, atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. Sprint checkers fly for Cranston at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 1) – Luke Cranston is finding the showdowns pitting the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars versus the POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series to his liking. For the second time this year, Cranston raced to victory lane in Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park in southwest Kansas. In the 25-lap DCRP vs. URSS Sprint Car Clash, Cranston chased down early leader Ty Williams in traffic on the 16th round and went on take the checkered flag by nearly a half straightaway. After a pair of aborted starts, Williams and Cranston led the 24-car feature field to the green flag with the ensuing 25 laps run off in non-stop fashion. Williams gunned into the early lead and paced the field for the initial 15 circuits. Cranston closed in to challenge for the point as traffic came into play after a dozen circuits and pounced on opportunity in traffic to take command on the 16th round. This event will be a tune-up for the upcoming third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals that are set to take place June 13-15. Brian Herbert will come into the night’s racing action as the current point leader while two-time and defending tour champion Zach Blurton is just four-points behind. URSS heads to Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits DODGE CITY, Kan. – A busy stretch consisting of two weekends of racing for the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off this coming Saturday night as the tour makes its second trip of the young 2019 race season to Dodge City Raceway Park and another battle with the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprints. Three events have been completed thus far this season with Jake Martens of Fairview, Okla., picking up the season-opening victory at 81 Speedway back on April 5. The next night the tour made its first trip of the season to Dodge City where track regular Luke Cranston of Ness City picked up the victory. Pfeifer prevails at Dodge City Stock Car Shootout

(May 4) – Saturday night’s Stock Car Shootout presented by Winner’s Circle Feedyards and Factory Direct Fireworks atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval lived up to its moniker with Kyle Pfeifer battling past Jason Rogers in the closing rounds of the 25-lapper to pocket the $1,000 winner’s share for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Pfeifer had his work cut out for him the in the 25-lap Shootout, gridding the feature field 12th as Tyler Walker and Mark Zorn led the way to the green flag. Walker gunned into the early lead and paced the initial eight circuits before surrendering the point to eighth-starter Rogers. Rogers was busy fending off Angel Munoz over the ensuing circuits while Pfeifer made his into the top five by the midway point. And with the June event rapidly approaching, entries are now being accepted for the upcoming third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service-sponsored event. The $3,000-to-win IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event that could potentially climb to as much as $4,500 with lap money included is set for June 13-15 atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. The rapidly-evolving event includes the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars along with the United Rebel Sprint Series and Sprint Series of Oklahoma. Gemmill becomes three-time Stampede king with latest Dodge City IMCA Modified victory

(April 27) – Brendon Gemmill pocketed $1,000 by racing to victory lane in Saturday night’s seventh annual IMCA Modified Stampede atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park. Gemmill fought off a late bid from Tanner Black to win the 25-lapper and earn a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Gemmill had briefly surrendered the point to Black on the 17th round before slipping away in the final circuits for his career third Modified Stampede triumph. Starting from the front row outside, Gemmill outgunned pole starter Nick Link with Black making his way from fourth into second after a lap three caution. Following the race’s second and final caution with eight laps in the books, Black tried to keep pace with Gemmill in the ensuing rounds. Originally slated for April 13 only to be postponed by inclement weather, Saturday’s card also features a full slate of championship chase action including Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
