Dodge City Raceway Park mid-season championships this Saturday

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The dirt will be flying at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday night as the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas hosts the Mid-Season Championships. 

With the title chases all heating up, the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock will all battle it out.

Saturday’s action that gets under way at 7:30 p.m. also offers $5 admission for those that are members of a church group and wearing their group’s apparel. Otherwise, general admission is $12 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Russell reigns over Dodge City Hobby Stocks

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 27) – Lyle Russell captured his first career feature win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature Friday at Dodge City Raceway Park. The 15-lapper came down to the final circuit as Russell scored the victory just ahead of Duane Wahrman and Reagan Sellard. Russell had taken command on the second round and kept Wahrman at bay until the 11th round.  As Wahrman raced into the lead, Sellard joined in on the lead battle with Wahrman and Russell taking the white flag in side-by-side fashion. Russell edged ahead in the final pair of corners to take the win ahead of Wahrman by half a car-length with Sellard another half car-length back in third.  Matt O’Hair and Brooke Russell rounded out the top five. Clay Sellard picked off his third consecutive IMCA Modified feature win as he denied Brendon Gemmill’s “Back-to-the Front Challenge” that came up two spots short in third. Mike Roach ruled the IMCA SportMods and Dusty Witthuhn took IMCA Sunoco Stock Car honors.

Dodge City championship chases to the critical stage on Saturday

And Saturday’s championship chase tilt is critical in points chases for each of the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Saturday’s racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m. Only two more nights of championship chase action remain after Saturday’s event including the Saturday, Sept. 1 Labor Day Weekend special and then the sixth annual Jerry Soderberg Memo­rial Championship event on Sept. 15. General admission for Saturday’s championship chase action at Dodge City is $15 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

DCRP Sprint Car Nationals, SportMod Mayhem to air live at IMCA.TV

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Dodge City Raceway Park is the place to be for this weekend’s fourth annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals along with the seventh annual IMCA SportMod Mayhem North vs. South Duel atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.  However, not all is lost for those that unable to take in all the excitement in person, as all three nights of action will be aired live via Pay-Per-View at www.imca.tv. Each night of action will be available for just $20 or get all three nights of competition for just $50.  The monumental racing weekend in Dodge City begins on Thursday and ultimately culminates with Saturday’s $3,000-to-win DCRP Sprint Car finale and the $1,500-to-win SportMod Mayhem North vs. South Duel championship event.
