Dodge City opener set for Saturday night

DODGE CITY, Kan. – With spring in full swing at long last, it’s time for the methanol to flow and the dirt to fly at Dodge City Raceway Park.

The 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas gets the 2018 season under way in grand style with three must-see events over the course of the month of May.

This month’s events at DCRP include the season-opener, the rescheduled Modified Stampede and the first appearance of the season for the United Rebel Sprint Series.

It all begins with this Saturday night’s season-opening championship card on May 5.  After an idle weekend, action continues with the sixth annual Modified Stampede on Saturday, May 19.  The month of May then wraps up with a Memorial Day weekend special featuring the URSS Sprint Cars taking on the DCRP Sprint Cars on Saturday night, May 26.

All three nights of competition will feature all five Dodge City championship chase divisions includ­ing the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Each event in May gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday’s season-opening championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park are $15 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
