DODGE CITY, Kansas (Aug. 22) – The Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing took to the finale of Dodge City Raceway Park’s Lubbock Wrecker Service Sprint Car Nationals on Saturday night. Jake Bubak claimed his second Sprint Car Nationals Championship after prevailing from a three-IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car battle to lead the final five circuits of the 30-lap feature event and earning $5,170 for the three-day weekend.

The Hambelton Racing Dash for Cash saw the top-six in combined points from Thursday and Friday’s preliminary events duel for a starting position in the first three rows of the big dance on Saturday night. Jason Martin used the high-side to make a pass on Bubak to win the Dash for Cash, earning him the pole starting position and an extra $300. 

Martin and Bubak set the pace for the 30-lap feature event. Martin took advantage of the pole position, snagging the lead ahead of Bubak and Zach Blurton. A caution flew on lap seven and the restart saw Blurton advance to second before snagging the lead from Martin on lap 10. 

Bubak slid into second just past halfway but Martin prevailed and claimed the lead back from Blurton. 

Bubak remained in contention and snagged the lead from Martin on lap 25. Martin continued to challenge for the lead but time ran out as Bubak won his second consecutive Sprint Car Nationals at DCRP.

Martin settled for second while Blurton, Taylor Velasquez and Jordan Knight rounded out the topfive.

Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. Velasquez rebounds for Dodge City RaceSaver Sprint win

(May 26) – Just one weekend removed from a wild heat race flip, Taylor Velasquez bounced right back to win Saturday’s 25-lap United Rebel Sprint Series vs. Precise Racing Products Sprint Car Clash main event at Dodge City Raceway Park. Velasquez put his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car out front at the outset from the pole position and capitalized on a lap 20 caution that negated a Jake Martens pass for the lead to secure the win. Given a reprieve, Velasquez burst out to a lead of several car lengths as the race restarted, but Martens closed back in and tried to slip under in the final pair of corners only to fall two car-lengths short at the stripe. “This week has been blood, sweat and tears,” Velasquez explained.  “I wasn’t really sure how I’d feel tonight.  Getting through the heat race was the most important part of the night. Big money, big trophies at Dodge City’s Boot Hill Championship

By Whitney Hodgin DODGE CITY, Kan. – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car and IMCA Modified feature winners can look forward to bonus payouts this weekend due to the joined efforts of the WaKeeney Speedway, Autumn Acres Pumpkin Farms and Dodge City Raceway Park. The DCRP Sprint Car feature winner will receive an additional $500 to the usual $1,000 paycheck thanks to the new promoter of the WaKeeney Speedway, Kyler Fetters. Autumn Acres Pumpkin Farms also sweetened the payout for the Modified feature winner an additional $500 to bring the total payout for the class to $1,500.
