Championship chase action heats up at Dodge City Raceway Park 

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – With spring in full swing at long last, it’s time for the methanol to flow and the dirt to fly at Dodge City Raceway Park. The 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas gets the 2018 season under way in grand style with three must-see events over the course of the month of May. This month’s events at DCRP include the season-opener, the rescheduled Modified Stampede and the first appearance of the season for the United Rebel Sprint Series. It all begins with this Saturday night’s season-opening championship card on May 5.  After an idle weekend, action continues with the sixth annual Modified Stampede on Saturday, May 19.  The month of May then wraps up with a Memorial Day weekend special featuring the URSS Sprint Cars taking on the DCRP Sprint Cars on Saturday night, May 26. By Lonnie Wheatley  DODGE CITY, Kan. – With the opening weekend of racing action at Dodge City Raceway Park little more than one week away, the track will host an open practice this Sunday, June 14. Sunday’s practice session will get under way at 5 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m.  Practice sessions will take place upon both the 3/8-mile clay oval and the 1/7-mile Little DCRP clay oval.  Pit gates open at 3 p.m. with general admission gates open at 3 p.m.   Pit admission is $20 per person with admission to the grandstands free. By Lonnie Wheatley  DODGE CITY, Kan. – In the ever-changing environment of the current COVID-19 coronavirus culture, Dodge City Raceway Park has shifted its open practice to a tentative date of Saturday, May 23, rather than the previously scheduled date of May 16. Following the tentative practice session set for May 23, pending further developments, Dodge City Raceway Park will now kick off the season with a URSS vs. DCRP Sprint Car showdown along with a full slate of championship chase action including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks on Saturday, June 6.
