Fulton date is Friday for World Products Empire State Series

FULTON, N.Y. (Oct. 1) – Chris Fleming brings the point lead to town, when the World Products Empire State Series visits Fulton Speedway this Friday, Oct. 4. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified tour feature pays $400 to win and a minimum of $75 to start. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. for the Outlaw 200 weekend show. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $22. Pit passes are $35 and entry fee is $20. Kennedale Speedway Park hosts Showdown special this weekend

KENNEDALE, Texas (Sept. 30) – Kennedale Speedway Park’s seventh annual Showdown special is this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4-5, with four IMCA divisions on the card. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start their 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature. First place in both the IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod features is good for $1,500 while the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature pays $1,000 to win. Saathoff sweeps IMCA Modified features at September Fest

BEATRICE, Neb. (Sept. 27-28) – Seven years separated Johnny Saathoff’s fifth and sixth main event wins at Beatrice Speedway’s season-ending special. He went a day between wins number six and seven. Saathoff checked out in topping $1,500 to win IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified September Fest features. Both were Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. From Friday’s third starting spot, Saathoff caught Jesse Sobbing for the lead on the ninth of 25 laps. Dylan Smith had started from inside the sixth row and worked his way into second following a restart. With Saathoff well ahead, Smith bested Sobbing, Jordan Grabouski and Jeff Joldersma in the race for runner-up points and pay. A similar scenario played out Saturday after Saathoff caught pole starter Chris Abelson with 11 laps left. (Sept. 27) – The Belleville Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event on Championship Night at Salina Speedway was a high-spirited duel between two families that have been through the wars together. The Lagroons and the Morrisons have risen through the classes, topping the 4-cylinder classes to the super stocks, and trading paint and positions on a weekly basis. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will race for a championship purse of nearly $20,000. The main event will pay $5,000 to win and a minimum of $400 to start, and is a qualifier for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Thome services set for Tuesday, Oct. 1

ALBION, Neb. – A Mass of Christian Bural for IMCA Modified driver Shane Thome, 30, of Albion will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Spalding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at the church, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation continues from 8:30-10 a.m. on Tuesday at Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding, NE. The IMCA track champion at Albion Speedway this season and a heat winner at Super Nationals, Thome died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident Thursday, Sept. 26. He had been an IMCA driver since 2000.

Championships determined tonight at Salina

(Sept. 27) – A full season has been nearly completed for the third straight year at the Salina Speedway as tonight’s (Friday) championship night showcases a long summer of achieve­ments with the crowning of six out of seven division champions. Joe Cleveland will capture his second championship in a row in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified division by starting his heat race. The battle will be for second as Corey Lagroon and Brian Knoell are separated by only one point. Mike Traskowsky is looking forward to capturing his second championship in three years in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division. Aaron McBride, his closest contender, is still within striking distance, but would need to finish 14 positions in front of Traskowsky to capture the title. One IMCA driver has such a huge lead that he actually wrapped up the points title last week. Oshkosh sanctions Stock Cars with IMCA starting in 2014

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Oshkosh Speedzone will add IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to regular Friday night race programs next season. “There have been many drivers asking us to sanction the Stock Cars with IMCA and we are going to do just that,” track promoter/partner Larry Stratton said. “Stock Cars will give the Speedzone a well rounded field of cars. They are a growing class and we feel they will be a perfect fit to the Speedzone program.” Points earned at Oshkosh will figure toward IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Arnold Motor Supply Northern Region and Allstar Performance State standings. Oshkosh also sanctioned the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods this year. The 2014 race season kicks off Saturday April 19, with the fastest cars on dirt.
