Boone County to host Shane Thome Modified Mania on Aug. 22

ALBION, Neb. (Aug. 15) – Less than a year after the death of IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver Shane Thome, his hometown track is planning a special event in his honor.

Boone County Raceway will host the first annual Shane Thome Modified Mania special on Friday, Aug. 22 to remember Thome, who died as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident last September.

The Modified division will headline the event with a $2,500 winner’s share on the line and a guaranteed $125 to start the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded.

Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will join the Modifieds in the draw/redraw special and each feature pays $600 to win.

Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6:30 p.m. Hot laps are slated for 7:15 p.m. with racing at 8 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $6 for ages 9-17. Kids eight and under will be admitted free. Pit passes are $25.

Entry fee for Modifieds is $100 and $65 for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods.
