Edelbrock rewards IMCA claim engine drivers in five divisions

TORRANCE, Calif. – A wealth of product and product certificate awards go to IMCA drivers in five divisions competing with claim engines this season, courtesy of Edelbrock. The Torrance, Calif., high performance parts manufacturer gives a 2975 Victor Jr. intake to the highest finishing eligible driver in each of the five regions for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regional champions get $100 product certificates. Highest finishing claim engine drivers in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock regions and in national Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod points receive 2701 intakes. Second through fifth place claim drivers in each Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock region, and in national Northern and Southern SportMod standings all receive $50 product certificates. Lab testing confirms Mullen $10,000 richer

VINTON, Iowa (July 2) – Samples of the tires Mike Mullen used in winning the Clash at the Creek special for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds have passed testing conducted at an independent laboratory. The June 26 victory at Francis Creek paid $10,000. This was the second time this season tire samples have been sent for testing. IMCA officials indicated sampling will continue throughout the 2014 point season.

Hoosier now in ninth season as official tire of IMCA

LAKEVILLE, Ind. – Continuing one of the most popular associations enjoyed by the sanctioning body, Hoosier Racing Tire is now in its ninth season as manufacturer of the official tire for five IMCA divisions. Hoosier manufactures and distributes the IMCA-stamped G60-15 tire for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod divisions; the IMCA-SCL stamped tire for IMCA Late Models; and the IMCA-stamped 500 tire for Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Jimmy Gustin repeats XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour heroics at Algona (VIDEO)

ALGONA, Iowa (July 1) – His IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified foes have to be happy the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour doesn’t bring Jimmy Gustin to Algona Raceway more often. Gustin ended a late Tuesday night show by regaining the lead on the final circuit for his second straight series win on the Kossuth County Fairgrounds dirt oval. The victory came during Algona’s Salute to Veterans Spectacular and paid $2,000. Post by XSAN. “I’ve only been to Algona twice and I won twice,” said the understandably happy Gustin, newly qualified for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “It was a really exciting race. It all worked out great for us.” Forty-three IMCA Modifieds were on hand for the second stop of the 2014 tour. Mike Van Genderen was just a car length off the pace in second with Eric Dailey, Kelly Shryock and Adam Larson rounding out the top five. Larson had led late before getting shuffled back. Rohleder cruises at Dawson County

(June 29) – Getting their chance to shine in the limelight after conquering the Dawson County Raceway oval to Sunday night were Kyle Rohleder, Jamey Kennicutt, Mike Nichols and Kyle Bond. Making his first visit of the season to Lexington, Rohleder rode the cushion to the lead on the eighth circuit and cruised to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory. Kennicutt grabbed the lead on the fourth lap and never looked back in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. Ageless wonder Denny Egge battled through traffic from his fifth row starting position to finish second. The high line also proved fastest for Nichols in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner. He took over the front spot and held off the determined Casey Werkmeister. Breaking through for his second straight IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win was Bond, who led the final 10 laps after starting in the fourth row.

Harvie wins caution-free contest at Electric City

By Vikki Higginbotham GREAT FALLS, Mont. (June 27) – Caution-free was the welcome motto for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds Friday at Electric City Speedway. Marty Harvie shot out front to take the early lead and there was no looking back for him in the green to checkers contest. Fans welcomed Harvie back to victory lane after a long dry spell for the driver. Mark Wermling was unable to catch Harvie and settled for second. The program had been delayed by rain for an hour and a half earlier in the evening.

Redline Racing Parts North Star Series is at Fairmont on the Fourth

FAIRMONT, Minn. – A holiday show is next for the Redline Racing Parts North Star Series this Friday, July 4 at Fairmont Raceway. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are on the track for the fifth of 10 tour dates this season. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. on Independence Day at Fairmont. Racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Red, White and Blue Series resumes Saturday at 141

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – This Saturday, July 5th marks the second of three Gandrud Chevrolet Red, White and Blue Series IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified events at 141 Speedway. These $1,000 to win, minimum $120 to start, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers will wrap up Aug. 23 as part of the weekly racing series at Francis Creek. Tim Czarneski is the current series leader with Darin Duffy in second. Shawn Kilgore, Benji LaCrosse and Brad Lautenbach round out the top five in Red, White and Blue Series points. Lynch, Brocksieck, Becerra take Quincy feature wins

By Jack Walbring QUINCY, Ill. (June 29) – Jim Lynch, Aaron Brocksieck and Austin Bercerra all took IMCA feature wins at Quincy Raceway on Sunday. Beau Taylor took over the lead of the Powder Coat Plus IMCA Stock Car main event on the fourth lap and powered to a comfortable lead as the field behind him battled for position. A caution flag brought the field to Taylor’s rear bumper on the 14th lap and that was all Lynch needed to make his bid for the lead. Lynch pulled close to Taylor on the final lap and made an incredible pass for the lead on the low side to take the win by a fender over Taylor who had to settle for second. Brocksieck kept his cool throughout the entire 18-lap Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Raceway Park tunes up for mid-season championships

Ramsey Meyer worked his way through the field in the early laps and went on to win the KISS 107.1 FM IMCA Sport Compact feature. Chasing Meyer to the flag was Cody Thompson, while Mark Holmes, Jr. rounded out the top three. The MOPAR IMCA Hobby Stock feature was dominated by Tony Fetterman, while Zach Ankrum and Lucas Phillips closed out good runs to fill out the top three.
