Denning, Ellithorpe, score repeat wins at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 11, 2022) – The Maquoketa Speedway dodged the predicted wet weather on Saturday night and held a fast, action-packed night of racing on the very smooth, fast ¼-mile dirt oval. The headliner of the night was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature that went 20 laps caution-free. Travis Denning was able to get past early leader Spencer Diercks and move into the lead just before lap 10 and went on to record his third win at the Maquoketa Speedway in 2022. Diercks held off the 2021 track champion Jeff Larson at the checkers. Jacob Ellithorpe had his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car back in fine form on Saturday night. Ellithorpe had spent countless hours in the garage making repairs following an incident that caused severe damage to the drive train in his no. 72 Stock car. Chipp races to IMCA Modified checkers at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (June 12, 2022) – Brennen Chipp took the lead early and then powered away following a late restart to score his first win of the season Sunday at Benton County Speedway. From his outside front row start, Chipp led the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.5 to the green flag. He built a 1.5 second advantage by the time Troy Cordes made his way to second from the third row. Just as the lead pair entered lapped traffic and Cordes cut into the lead, caution slowed action late in the 20-lapper. Chipp pulled away when racing resumed to pick up his first win at The Bullring since 2017. Cordes chased Chipp to the checkers, followed by Joel Rust and Ryan Maitland. Winners take the long way to get to victory lane at Off Road

(June 11, 2022) – Familiar names once again found their way into victory lane during Saturday night’s regular slate of races at Off Road Speedway, but had to take the long way to get there. Cameron and Jason Wilkinson secured feature wins in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock divisions, respectively, while Cory Dumpert earned another IMCA Sunoco Late Model victory. The odd man out was Tyler Afrank who, after finishing among the top five just once this season, won an main event for the first time at Off Road Speedway in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division. Afrank, starting on the outside of the front row, grabbed the lead immediately and stayed there all 15 laps while Jonathan Jensen and James Roebuck battled for second place behind him. Veloz scores first win, Spaw and Kile repeat at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 10, 2022) – The weather cleared Friday afternoon providing a beautiful night for racing at CJ Speedway. Mother Nature provided just the right amount of water on the 4/10 mile dirt track making for a very smooth, fast race track that evening. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods were the final race of the night and a strong field of 24 drivers took the initial green flag. Carter VanDenBerg took the green from the pole position and led the main event for 14 and ¾-lap but the checkers had not waved when a caution flew for the second place driver spinning in front of the field. The field was reset for a green, white, checkered dash to the finish. VanDenBerg was holding off all challengers until the final lap when recent high school graduate Logan Veloz provided a thrilling finish. Super Nationals IMCA Southern SportMod style: Kennedale to host inaugural event Sept. 8-10

KENNEDALE, Texas (June 10, 2022) – Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods will have a super event of their own this September. Kennedale Speedway Park hosts the Southern SportMod Super Nationals Sept. 8-10. Divisional title sponsor Smiley’s Racing Products is also sponsor of the inaugural event, which pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. “We have a ton of these cars around here and they do a great job showing up every week to support their local tracks so we wanted to have a special event like this for them,” said KSP promoter James Lopez. “Everything we get sponsorship-wise is going to go back 100 percent to the drivers.” The runner-up earns $1,500 with $1,200 paid for third, $1,100 for fourth and $1,000 for fifth. IMCA Wild West Shootout introduces #StephanieStrong hard charger award

WHITE CITY, Ore. (June 10, 2022) – 2022 will see several new additions to the IMCA Wild West Shootout. In addition to the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will join the card. The Stock Cars will race every race on tour except for the last round. Something also new will be the introduction of the #StephanieStrong Hard Charger Award. Every night, the driver in each division that passes the most cars based on their original starting position will receive the decoration. All ties will be broken by the driver that started the furthest back in the field. The creation of the award is in memory of the late Stephanie Deatherage, who tragically passed away last September.
