Chadwick up to challenge in Nor-Cal opener at Silver Dollar

CHICO, Calif. (March 7-8) – After a disappointing 2013 season, Kellen Chadwick picked the perfect night and the perfect track to launch a successful 2014 campaign. Chadwick held off Ryan McDaniel and then Troy Foulger in winning the Saturday night IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature at Silver Dollar Speedway. The Nor-Cal Challenge Series opening victory came on night two of Silver Dollar’s Silver Cup special. “After last year, it was very important for us to get off to a good start this season,” said Chadwick. “This being a Nor-Cal Series race, $1,000 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier, we accomplished that.” Foulger, defending series champion McDaniel, opening night Silver Cup winner Nick DeCarlo and Monte Bischoff rounded out the top five. Forty-three Modifieds vied in the tour lidlifter. Chadwick started the 30-lapper from inside row two, caught Foulger for second on the fourth circuit and set his sites on McDaniel, finally getting the lead on lap 13. Smith continues Cocopah success with second Winter Nationals Modified sweep

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Feb. 14-15) – Different weekend, same results. Dylan Smith returned to Cocopah Speedway to complete his four-race sweep of Winter Nationals, earning $1,000 for his Friday night IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified win and $3,000 for the Saturday checkers. He’d also gone south to Somerton to win $1,000 features on Feb. 7 and 8. “On Saturday I matched the total I won the first three races at Cocopah so it was a pretty good night,” said Smith, who will spend part of that bounty fixing his hauler, which broke down last Thursday in Arizona. “We raced with a lot of good guys down here. I hope we can keep winning races when we start racing at home in Nebraska.” Smith won from seventh starting on Friday and from 10th on Saturday. The victories were his IMCA career 91st and 92nd. Tim Ward, Justen Yeager, Scott Drake and R.C. Whitwell completed Friday’s top five. Chasing Smith across the stripe on Saturday were Drake, Winter Challenge Series champion Ricky Thornton Jr., Jesse Sobbing and Zane [Read More]
