Hayes takes Northern SportMod foes at 141 to school

By Greg and Marco Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (May 15) – A week after graduating from college, Kelsy Hayes taught her Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod foes a lesson at 141 Speedway. Hayes led every lap of the Friday feature for her career first local victory. Hayes had her hands full throughout the 20-lapper, first holding off Josh Lambert and Hunter Parsons and then denying Kevin Bethke in the later circuits. Last-corner finishes are always a blast for the fans and for the winning side of finish. The IMCA Xtreme Motorsports Modified finale saw Johnny Whitman edge Shawn Kilgore by a bumper. The local win was the defending champion’s first of the season. Larry Karcz Jr. got back to winning in his second week back in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars after an off-season accident. A fog-shortened Mach-1 Sport Compact feature saw Brian Johnson pick up his first win of the season.

By Dave Panske OSHKOSH, Wis. (May 15) – Bragging rights belonged to Mike Wedelstadt when the first round of the King of the Ring Series for Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds brought 53 entries to Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway Friday night. Twenty-four cars made up the main event grid and Wedelstadt and Brad Lautenbach started on the front row. The battle behind was for third with Brian Mullen, Todd Dart, Eric Arneson, Johnny Whitman, Eddie Muenster and Sean Jerovetz in a cluster behind. A lone caution flew for a stalled car on lap 11, and Wedelstadt resumed his lead after the restart with Lautenbach, Mullen, Dart, Arneson, Whitman, Muenster and Jerovetz now right behind. Wedelstadt pulled away over the final laps to record his first local feature win of the year.  Mullen caught Lautenbach with three laps left to take [Read More]

By Randy Pospishil NORFOLK, Neb. (May 9) – The second week of racing at Off Road Speedway featured a full slate of races, plus the conclusion of the previous week’s rain-interrupted program. It’s been a good weekend; we won them both with both cars in Albion last night, too.” In other action from last week Tejay Mielke won the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Cox gets lead back twice for Cottage Grove checkers

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 9) – Getting to the front of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified field at Cottage Grove Speedway Saturday evening was the easy part of Kinzer Cox’s drive to victory lane. Staying in front was the hard part. The hometown clipper had to regain the lead from Gus Cooper on the 12th and 16th laps to gain the victory. Ryan Baker set the early pace, giving way to Jason Kocks on lap four. Kocks suffered mechanical issues shortly afterwards, however, giving the position back to Baker. On lap five, Cox took over and tried to set a rapid pace. Three cautions prevented him from constructing a large lead. Cooper got by Cox on lap 11, but Cox took the position back the next time around. Cooper was in the lead when the next lap was scored but lost the point again on lap 16.
