Season championship night at Arlington honors Schoknecht

ARLINGTON, Minn. – The Saturday, Sept. 23 season championship night program at Arlington Raceway will be in honor of Scott Schoknecht. Schoknecht, from Belle Plaine, was very instrumental in helping many drivers with his unselfish knowledge in setting up race cars. Friends have collected donations from almost 40 individuals and businesses to add to the purse for the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Both features will be $1,500 to win, $800 for second, $500 for third, $300 for fourth and $200 for fifth through 24th place. The Modified feature is a 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. After the race, four numbers will be drawn for finishing positions 5-24 and each of those spots will receive a total of $1,000. There will also be a $500 hard charger award in these two classes. Septemberfest at Beatrice features five IMCA divisions 

BEATRICE, Neb. – Five IMCA divisions are featured at Beatrice Speedway’s season-ending Septem­berfest special this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win their opening night qualifier, with the top four finishers locked into Satur­day’s $2,000 to win main event. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing Na­tional, Jet Racing Central Region and Allstar Performance State points, as well as a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot bid, are at stake on Saturday. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet North­ern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win each night. National, re­gional and state points will be awarded Fri­day and Saturday in those four divisions. Restad IMCA Modified Memorial slated Saturday at Siskiyou

YREKA, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds race for $2,000 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for a top prize of $1,000 at Siskiyou Motor Speedway’s Saturday, Sept. 23 Rod Restad Memorial. The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The $100 entry fee for Modifieds and $85 for Northern SportMods includes car and driver. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, $7 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. With Saturday’s fifth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event set to bring the cur­tains down on 2017 DCRP title chases, this year is no exception with 208 drivers having already competed in at least one round of racing action. Championship Night is Saturday at Canyon 

By Rowdy Briggs PEORIA, Ariz. – It has been a long season at Canyon Speedway Park but it all comes down to Championship Night Saturday in the four IMCA divisions that compete regularly at the Arizona speedplant. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Arizona Differential IMCA Northern SportMods and the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will be crowning their champions. Admission is $15 for adults. Seniors 60 and over and military are $12 and children 11 and under are free. All-access pit passes can be purchased for $35 for adults while kids ages 7-11 are $20 and 6 years and under are free. All minors under the age of 18 must have a minor release Form filled out and notarized prior to entry into the pits. The form can be found on the track’s www.canyonspeedwaypark.com website.

Stief takes MASS point lead to Grandview

Stief, a two-time feature winner this season, is the current point leader as MASS heads to Grandview Speedway this Friday, Sept. 15. URSS Rebels headed to Dodge City 

DODGE CITY, Kan. – After two weeks off for drivers to compete in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals and a weekend to regroup, the Myers Engine United Rebel Sprint Series will return to Dodge City Raceway Park for the fifth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial this Saturday, Sept. 16. Sellers scores at Sprint Series of Oklahoma’s Pat Suchy Memorial

(Sept. 8) – Robert Sellers took advantage of race-long leader Loyd Clevenger’s misfortune to capture the $1,250 Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory at Red Dirt Raceway’s Pat Suchy Memorial. Clevenger had motored into the lead following an early restart and pulled away again following a mid-race yellow before encountering traffic on lap 16. With 10 laps to go, Clevenger’s lead had shrunk to three car lengths. The complexion of the race changed when Clevenger and the lapped car of Cody Jarvis got to­gether entering turn three with Clevenger taking a tumble. Tristan Oakes was also involved but unlike Clevenger was able to return. Sellers found himself in the lead for the ensuing restart. He held off a fast closing Andy Shouse to take earn the victory. Albert Auto September Spectacular Sunday at Benton County 

VINTON, Iowa – Top prize for IMCA Modifieds at Benton County Speedway’s Sunday, Sept. 17 Albert Auto Service September Spectacular is $1,000. The headline event is a qualifier for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win. Completing the sanctioned portion of the program are Mach-1 Sport Compacts. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly racing National, regional and All-Star Performance State points will be given at the draw-redraw show. All heat race winners get $25 from Albert Auto, which also provides three gift cards for the grandstand drawing.
