IMCA Late Model Tri-Track Challenge opens at Farley 

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – Farley Speedway showcases Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models tak­ing part in the first installment of the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge Series this Friday, May 19. Late Models will be battling it out for the $2,000 top prize. In addition to the high-powered Late Models, the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will be in action. Friday’s action will get underway with hot laps at 7 p.m. The first green flag is slated to wave at 7:30 p.m.

United Rebel Sprint Series returning to Thomas County Speedway 

COLBY, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will open the 2017 season this Saturday night, May 20 at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan. Last year Ty Williams tamed the semi-banked 3/8 mile oval to take the win in front of a packed house. Joining the URSS Sprint Cars will be IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Hot Laps are at 6 p.m. with races kicking off at 7 p.m. With Mother Nature scoring all the checkers for the year the URSS Rebels are chomping at the bit to hit the track.

Osborn leads IMCA Modified finish at Lexington 

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (May 14) – Riding around the top in the opening laps, Colton Osborn powered his way to the point on the fourth lap and never looked back in capturing the IMCA Modified feature win Sunday at Lexington Raceway. Veteran David Murray Jr. worked his way into second just past halfway applied pressure to Osborn in the waning laps, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Cozad hotshoe. Defending national champion Mike Nichols started fourth row and finished first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. Jamey Kennicutt was the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod leader from the second lap to the checkers and Brady Weinman aced lapped traffic in scoring IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock honors. Travis Thelander was in and out of the Mach-1 Sport Compact lead before winning that event.

IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars debut at Park Jefferson

JEFFERSON, S.D. – History will be made this Saturday, May 20 as Park Jefferson Speedway will welcome the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars for the first time. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission for adults is $12, seniors 70-plus are $5 and children are $2. The Budweiser clubhouse will be open and a clubhouse pass can be added to any ticket for $12. Turner Plumbing of Vermillion will be the feature sponsor.

Reitzler captures first win at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 12) – The top side of the oval took Todd Reitzler to his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory at Marshalltown Speedway. Damon Murty looked destined to take home another win as he led the Friday feature from the drop of the green. However, Reitzler, decided to dust off the top side of the track, where no one else was venturing, and he made it work. The final few laps saw Reitzler reel in the leader and burst past Murty for the win. Murty had to be con­tent with second, while third went to Steve Meyer. Eric Elliott won the IMCA Modified 20-lap feature, his first local checkers since last May.  Elliott started seventh and took the lead just before halfway point of the race. Todd Cooney prevailed in a tight three-way battle with Darrel DeFrance and Justin Mitchell to win the 20-lap feature for IMCA Late Models. Roth flies fastest in Eagle SportMod main 

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 13) – Ninth starting Trent Roth gained the lead with three laps to go and won the Hoos­ier Tire IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Shane Hiatt repeated as the Kaplan University IMCA Modified winner and Trevor Grossenbacher made the most of a lap four restart to get the lead and motor to the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win. Dave Carter passed for the lead following an early restart and stayed in front every lapped scored to take the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock checkers. Spencer Pavey III took the Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Compact victory.

Meyer extends win string at Off Road Speedway

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews.com NORFOLK, Neb. (May 13) – When an opening appeared among the cluster of cars in front of Ram­sey Meyer, he did the logical thing – he sped through it. As a result, Meyer managed to move from the fourth row of the starting grid to second within one lap of the 12-lap Mach-1 Sport Compact feature Saturday at Off Road Speedway. Just one lap later, Meyer took the lead from Norfolk’s Shannon Pospisil. A caution with four laps remaining returned the field to Meyer’s rear bumper and although Dustin Jackson took advantage of the opportunity to be side-by-side with Pospisil, he was unable to over­take Meyer who went on to win his third race in a row at Norfolk. Jeremy Hoskinson gained his first Off Road Speedway win of the season in the IMCA Hobby Sunoco Stock division, ending Austin Brauner’s string of consecutive local victories at two. Porter paces IMCA Modifieds at Arlington 

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 13) – Chad Porter led the entire MN 93 IMCA Modified feature for his first victory of the season Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Trent Loverude lined up directly in back of Porter and tailed him the entire race to take second and Justin Anderson advanced from his 10th place start to take third. The B&B Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature was exciting as Kevin LaTour led for 11 before Dan Mackenthun took the high side in turn four and got around for the lead and eventually the win. Neil Stevens led the entire 95.7 the Rock IMCA RaceSaver feature to win his first feature of the year. There were three different leaders in the Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod feature and Eric Larson was in front when it mattered the most. Cory Probst started 10th and finished first in the Premier Logistics IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Ryan Bryant worked his way from fifth starting to win the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature.

Park Jefferson checkers fly for Boulware

JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 13) – Park Jefferson Speedway hosted the Road to the Iron Cup for the Schaeffer Oil IMCA Northern SportMods on Saturday and Todd Boulware cruised to the checkered flags from his third place starting spot. After some challenging opening weeks, Boulware re-asserted himself as the man to beat when the money is on the line. Jeff Brunssen charged from the eighth place starting spot to run second and Karl Brewer was third. In the SignMasters IMCA Modifieds, Thor Anderson took advantage of his pole start to take the checkered flag. Utilizing a unique line through turns three and four, Anderson held off Bob Moore and Ricky Stephan to take his first-ever checkered flag at Park Jefferson.
