Harris Clash returns to Deer Creek Speedway in 2020

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – After a near record-breaking attendance to the 2019 Harris Clash, the 2020 Harris Clash date has been announced. The event will return to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for a third time on Aug. 4. This will be the 29th running of the event. 

Bob Harris, promoter of the Harris Clash, is looking forward to what the new year will bring. 

“We are thrilled to be returning to Deer Creek Speedway once again for the Harris Clash. The staff there is second to none and works with IMCA and our team to put on a tremendous show,” he said. “The implementation of the Race of Champions this year brought a new tradition to the Clash and we are excited to see how that race takes shape over time.”

The Race of Champions, a new part of the Harris Clash that featured a dash of past event champions, will be returning to the lineup in 2020.

The 2019 event featured a $1,200 to win Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and $3,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying IMCA Modifieds, yielding 140 cars from 14 states.

A complete payout and other details for the 2020 Harris Clash are yet to be determined.

First held in 1992, the Harris Clash is a premier event for Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and IMCA Modified drivers from across the country, with a unique emphasis on racing manufacturers. More information can be found at www.harrisclash.com.

Rich IMCA Harris Clash returns to Deer Creek Speedway

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (July 15, 2022) – How can you improve on an already great event like the Harris Clash?  Promoter Bob Harris says more money is a good way to start.  While Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $5,000 to win their main event on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Deer Creek Speedway, the minimum paid to start the feature has been upped to $500.  Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods see a boost as well and run for $2,500 to win. “The Modified winner gets another $500 if their chassis builder is part of the Clash manufacturers’ cup, plus a new $100 bonus for every position they advance in the main event from the TraLo Companies out of Owatonna,” explained Harris. “We’ve added a lot of money to the back side of the Modified purse and the Northern SportMods are running for $2,500 to win so we’ve got a real good payout again this year.” The Modified winner becomes eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Carter makes Harris Clash history on record-breaking night at Deer Creek

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Aug. 7) – A history-making night turned out to be a record-breaking night Tuesday at Deer Creek Speedway. Cayden Carter raced from 17th starting to win the IMCA Modified main event, and $3,000, at the Harris Clash, the first IMCA event held at Spring Valley. Ninth starting Jake McBirnie topped the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature and earned $1,000. Ninety-six Modifieds and 55 SportMods were entered with the total car count of 151 the highest in the 27-year history of the Clash, which played out before a very full grandstand.
