Championship Night is Saturday at Bethany

(July 27) – Jason Estes held off a succession of challengers to take the $1,262 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers Saturday at Bethany Speedway.  After showing plenty of speed in winning his heat race, Estes motored into the lead and stayed in front to the checkers. Mike Van Genderen bounced back from a foray through the infield to finish second. Van Genderen has drawn the pole start with J.J. Baumli, winner of Friday’s Joe Crist Memorial Shootout event at US 36 Raceway on the outside. Van Genderen took the initial lead with Baumli challenging every inch of the way. BETHANY, Mo. (Aug. 1) – Steven Bowers Jr. and J.J. Baumli both continued their winning ways at historic Bethany Speedway Saturday evening. Bowers has taken control of the IMCA Modified division locally as he chases the national championship, having won all but one feature at Bethany this year heading into the night. At the start, Mike Dotson took the point and battled Nicholas Carpenter while Bowers started 10th and was working through the pack, bringing Shayne Bailey with him. Out of turn two, Bowers and Carpenter split Dotson high and low and ran three wide all the way down the backstretch and into three. Bowers came out with the lead and went on to win with Carpenter in second and Dotson third. Carson Masoner led early in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main, then Blake Peeler took the lead and tried to get away from everybody. (June 27) – With a new running order every time around the oval, Tim Stallbaumer was the leader of the 15th and final circuit of Saturday’s Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature at Bethany Speedway. Stallbaumer found his way to the front and never looked back as he picked up the win from the eighth starting spot. Tim Eaton held the lead for a few laps about mid-race and finished second. Steven Clancy and Chris Wright stayed in close contact the entire race and finished third and fourth, respectively.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature started with Mich Ross and Steve Starmer on the front row. From the drop of the green flag for about four laps they stayed side by side with Ross on bottom and Starmer on top. Starmer adjusted his line to the bottom as the top lost just a little speed after an early caution and followed Ross for a few laps.
