Defending champions among pre-entries for Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, N.D. – Defending champions Aaron Turnbull and Elijah Zevenbergen are among the 88 drivers from 15 states and Canada already entered for the July 6-11 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. Turnbull joins 63 other pre-registered IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers who will contend for $2,000 to win each night of the 25th annual North Dakota and Saskatchewan-based series. Zevenbergen and 24 more pre-registered IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars vie for $800 to win on the same programs. Deery Series heads to Independence for pre-holiday show

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 25) – Still looking for a repeat winner this season, the Deery Broth­ers Summer Series heads to Independence for a pre-holiday show next Tuesday, July 1. IMCA Late Models contend for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates and the grandstand at Indee both open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and free for kids 11 and under when accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $30. The first six tour events of 2014 have produced as many different winners, the most recent of them Jeff Aikey last night at Marshalltown Speedway. ALGONA, Iowa – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds chasing the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour provide part of the fireworks at Algona Raceway’s Tuesday, July 1 Salute to Veterans Spectacular. Traveling Modifieds race for $2,000 to win their 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualify­ing event. The runner-up earns $1,050, with $950 for third and $850 for fourth. Aikey adds bonuses to Deery Series payday at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 24) – On a night when Marshalltown Speedway continued its 50th anniversary celebration, an IMCA Late Model driver with more than his share of tour success cele­brated another Deery Brothers Summer Series victory. Jeff Aikey led start to finish in the Miller Lite 50 event, earning a $3,000 share of the purse plus a pair of $500 bonuses along with his 62nd career Deery win. One of seven drivers from the track’s 1985-1990 Late Model era competing Tuesday night, the seven-time series champion pocketed those bonuses from H & F Distributing for winning the fea­ture and from former promoter Steve Priske, now owner of Rumor’s Bar & Grill, as the highest finishing veteran in the main event. Aug. 1 is deadline for sign-up forms, car photos

VINTON, Iowa – Fri­day, Aug. 1 is the final date for submission of contin­gency sign-up forms, rookie of the year applica­tions and car photos proving required decal placement. IMCA drivers who don’t meet that deadline are not eligi­ble for post-sea­son cash and product awards. The rookie application is published in the newslet­ter and is posted online. Sign-up forms were included in decal packets. Drivers who need sign-up forms or another set of decals can contact IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder at 319 472-2201 or kyoder@imca.com. Plum picks up sweet prize in non-fendered voting for June

By Ryan Clark SIOUX CITY, Iowa – One of the original 54 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers to compete at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in 2005, Aaron Plum said he’s in the sport simply to have fun. The veteran from Sioux City, who owns his own sign shop, is the June winner of the Sybesma Graphics IMCA Facebook Fan Favorite contest for non-fendered divisions. Lemmens’ Stock Car tabbed as June’s best fendered entry

By Ryan Clark MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Luke Lemmens earned his first feature win of the season a couple weeks ago in his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and received some off the track accolades this month as well. Lemmens, in his fourth year in the division, was voted the winner of the Sybesma Graphics IMCA Facebook Fan Favorite Contest for fendered divisions. A regular competitor at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek and Luxemburg Speedway, the Milwaukee driver is pleased with the first couple months of his season. “We’ve had some ups and downs, but it’s been a good year,” said Lemmens, who has earned six top-five finishes in 10 events this season. A part-time racer at Luxemberg, Lemmens is racing for points at 141 Speedway, however he admits that’s no small task. “I’m sitting third right now,” he stated of the point standings at 141. “J.J. The Best Appearing Car theme for the 2014 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s has been set. With the recent passing of industry icon and Speedway Motors founder ‘Speedy’ Bill Smith, this year’s theme will be a tribute to the man who founded Speedway Motors and established and built ‘America’s Oldest Speed Shop’. Cars designed with a Speedy Bill tribute or Speedway Motors theme will be considered in the judging for Best Appearing Car in the IMCA Modified, Stock Car, SportMod and Hobby Stock divisions. In addition to the theme, designs must include the required IMCA decals for each division to be eligible. All drivers entered in the judging will receive $100 gift cards from Speedway Motors. Late Model and Sport Compact drivers participating with the same theme will also receive $100 gift cards but will not be judged. Speedway Motors is in its 20th year as the title sponsor of the Super Nationals event, which runs from September 1-6, 2014, at the Boone, Iowa, Speedway.

XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour date at Lee County rescheduled to July 14

DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 19) – Another ominous forecast has resulted in another XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour postponement. With rain in the late afternoon and evening forecast, the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified tour event scheduled tonight (Tuesday) at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson has been moved to Monday, July 14. Program of events for that night is to be announced. The new date makes for an even busier week of racing for IMCA Modified drivers, following weekly races and the July 13 Hogan Memorial at Benton County Speedway in Vinton. The Hawkeye Dirt Tour is at Southern Iowa Speedway on Tuesday, July 15 and at Knoxville Raceway on Thursday, July 17 for the Harris Clash show; Oskaloosa’s regular weekly show is on the Wednesday between those dates.

Kupper Chevrolet returns as Dakota Classic Tour sponsor

MANDAN, N.D. – Kupper Chevrolet returns this season as title sponsor for the Dakota Classic Modified and Stock Car Tours. This is the second in a three-year pact. The largest Chevrolet dealer in North Dakota, Kupper again pro­vides point funds of $2,000 for traveling IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and $1,000 for traveling IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. The Kupper Automotive companies include Kupper Chevrolet and Kupper Subaru in Mandan and Bis­marck Motor Company.
