Winter Nationals this weekend at Longdale Speedway

By Shawn Miller LONGDALE, Okla. – The Winter Nationals is developing into a strong event that helps close each season at Longdale Speedway. The third edition of the marquee event is set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16 and will feature three IMCA sanctioned divisions. The first night will be the standard purse for each class with the Oct. 16 event paying $1,000 to win and $200 to start for both the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and IMCA SportMods and $800 to win and $100 to start for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Sunday’s feature for the Modifieds is a 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event. Stock Car Stampede at Jamestown boasts $2,000 IMCA Modified top prize

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Oct. 10) – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds chase a $2,000 top check at Jame­stown Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15 Stock Car Stampede. The Stampede is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The run­ner-up earns $1,500 with $1,000 paid for third; drivers taking the main event green earn a mini­mum of $300. Heat races begin at 7 p.m. on Friday with “B” features preceding Saturday’s main event. What’s new at the 45th annual Stampede is a $500 to win, minimum $120 to start race for the top 24 Modi­fied non-qualifiers. Other non-qualifiers who finish their “B” race will be paid $50. Abilene Speedway hosts Oct. 14-15 Southern Challenge

ABILENE, Texas – Abilene Speedway rolls out the red carpet for four IMCA divisions at its 22nd annual Ryan Bard Memorial Southern Challenge special Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $2,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods both for $1,700 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $650 to win. The Modified feature is a 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. An open practice runs from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. Qualifying begins on Friday and Dirt Defender adds to the payout in all four sanctioned divisions. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Friday. Budweiser Nationals boasts Oct. 7, 8 $1,500 to win IMCA Modified features at Bakersfield 

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Oct. 4) – A pair of $1,500 to win features for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds are on tap at Bakersfield Speedway’s 31st annual Budweiser Nationals this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8. Both 40-lap features are 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events and pay a minimum of $100 to start. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods begin qualifying on Friday. (Oct. 4) – The Atomicwraps.com IMCA Empire State Series sees its final checkers of 2016 when the tour for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds travels to Five Mile Point Speedway for an Oct. 8 show. URSS 2016 Colorado Region Championship up for grabs at Byers

BYERS, Colo. – The final race of the 2016 United Rebel Sprint Series at Colorado Motor Sports Park will determine the 2016 Colorado Champion this Saturday night, Oct. 8. Current point leader and winner of the last race at Byers, Zach Blurton leads the standings by a slim four point margin over 2015 national rookie of the year Austin McLean. Justin Medlock is 20 points behind Blurton holding down the third spot. Current Colorado and national rookie point leader Scott Rhoades holds a 22-point lead over fifth place Luke Lucero. Positions sixth through eighth are separated by 12 points. Mark Walinder holds the sixth spot with Todd Plemons 10 points behind in seventh and teammate Scott Cochran two points back of Plemons. Doubleheader this weekend for Sprint Series of Oklahoma 

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The inaugural season for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Rac­eSaver Sprint Car Series comes to a close in a huge way this weekend as it will be a double-header of races that will tell the tale of the point championship. It all kicks off this coming Friday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore in a makeup event that was rained out the previous Friday night (Sept. 16). The tour will then travel to Okla­homa Sports Park in Ada on Saturday night and wrap up its 2016 point season. This will be the fourth and final event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway where John Carney II, Michelle Melton and Chad Wilson have visited victory lane during the track’s Fast 5 Friday events. URSS national finale is Saturday at Jerry Soderberg Memorial 

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The final race in the 2016 Myers Racing Engines National Points has the United Rebel Sprint Series headed back to Dodge City Raceway Park for the fourth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial this Saturday, Sept. 24. Taylor Velasquez will be going for his third Jerry Soderberg Memorial win in a row; Zach Blurton captured the inaugural event win in 2013. Racing action begins at 7 p.m. with Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks joining the Sprints. General admission is $20 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. So far in the 10 races of the Myers Racing Engines National Championship there have been six different winners with Luke Cranston taking three feature victories. Blurton and Brian Herbert each garnered a pair of wins. Jason Martin, Steven Richardson and J.D. Johnson each picking up sin­gle wins this season.
