Winter Heat Challenge this weekend at Perris

PERRIS, Calif. – Perris Auto Speedway will put a wrap on the Winter Heat Challenge Series this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and 12. Both shows will feature IMCA Modifieds running for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Western Region, Allstar Performance State and track points. Spectator gates open at 2 p.m. each day with racing at 3 p.m. Adult tickets are $15 each day.  Active military with proper ID, students ages 13-18 with their school ID and kids ages 6-12 get in for $5. Children five and under will be admitted free. Through the generosity of the fairgrounds, parking will be free both days. Race teams competing in both shows this weekend will be allowed to camp in the infield overnight on Saturday. Pre-entries number 160 for Arizona IMCA Modified Tour

YUMA, Ariz. – Eight $1,250 to win main events take top billing when the inaugural IMCA Arizona Modified Tour ventures to Cocopah Speedway, Arizona Speedway, Canyon Speedway Park and San Tan Ford Central Arizona Speedway. Each IMCA Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event and a minimum of $150 will be paid to make the 24-car fields. All eight programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV and also featured on MAVTV. Eight IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout dates set at five California, Oregon tracks

By Ben Deatherage WHITE CITY, Ore. – Building on last summer’s record-setting series, the IMCA Wild West Modi­fied Shootout returns in 2017 with eight dates at five different tracks in California and Oregon. Each main event for the IMCA Modifieds over the course of the June 23-July 1 tour pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $100 to start and is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Four IMCA divisions featured at Cocopah’s Cactus Clash this weekend

YUMA, Ariz. – IMCA Modifieds are in the running for $1,000 to win both nights of Cocopah Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4 Cactus Clash. Both main events are Fast Shafts All-Star ballot qualifiers. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vie for $600, $500 and $400, respectively, to win each night of the draw/redraw special. Start money is $100 for Modifieds, $50 for the SportMods and Stocks, and $40 for the Hobbies. Tow is $30 in each division. Winter Heat Challenge Series starts season at Perris 

PERRIS, Calif. – Pit gates open at noon and racing starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 when the Winter Heat Challenge Series starts the 2017 season at Perris Auto Speedway. The grandstand opens and hot laps for the IMCA Modifieds start at 2 p.m. There is no entry fee; pit passes are $50. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for active military personnel and students ages 13-18 with ID, and for kids ages six through 12. Youngsters five and under get in free. Central Arizona hosts Nov. 18-20 IMCA Desert Thunder Nationals 

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, and for $3,000 to win on Sunday, Nov. 20 during Central Arizona Speedway’s San Tan Ford Desert Thunder Nationals. All three features are 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start on Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s runner-up earns $1,500 with $1,000 paid for third. Minimum start money is $150 for Sunday’s 30-lap feature. Non-qualifiers get $50. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $500 to win both Friday and Saturday and for $1,000 to win Sunday’s 25-lap feature. Entry fee for the weekend is $150 for Modifieds or $100 for Northern SportMods. IMCA legal mufflers are required in both divisions. Racing starts at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Adult grandstand  admission is $15 for one day or $40 for all three days. Kids ages 11 and under get in the grandstands free. IMCA is PRI-bound Dec. 8-10

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IMCA will be well represented at the biggest event of the 2016 trade show circuit. The 29th annual Performance Racing Industry trade show will be held Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 8-10 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. “PRI is the racing industry’s version of the Super Bowl,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “It’s an excellent opportunity for us to meet with current and prospective promoters and marketing partners as well as drivers from across the country.” Copies of 2017 rules will be available at the IMCA booth (no. 3709), adjacent to the Speedway Motors booths. In addition to Root, IMCA representatives in attendance will include Vice President of Operations Jim Stannard, Competition Director Tom Gutowski, Marketing Director Kevin Yoder and French Grimes on behalf of RaceSaver.

Texas Motorsport Expo in IMCA travel plans

MESQUITE, Texas – The Texas Motorsport Expo and Auction will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Mesquite Convention Center. Attending from IMCA will be Vice President of Operations Jim Stannard and Director of Division Development Dave Brenn. They’ll have copies of 2017 rules available to drivers. The doors open at 8 a.m. and the aucton starts at 9 a.m.

Western States Promoter Conference set in Reno

RENO, Nev. – The Eldorado Hotel and Casino in Reno will be the site of the Dec. 1 and 2 Western States Promoters Conference, organized by Ocean Speedway promoter John Prentice. “This conference will focus on scheduling and networking,” said IMCA President Brett Root, who will be in attendance both days. “I anticipate it will be similar to the RPM workshop in terms of meeting subjects.”

RPM workshops scheduled in Las Vegas, Indy, Daytona Beach

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – IMCA officials will meet with promoters and other automotive racing industry leaders at upcoming RPM workshops planned in Las Vegas, Indianapolis and Daytona Beach. Sessions at each are geared toward race track operations, i.e. promotional events, insurance and legal aspects. RPM promoters of the year will also be announced during the Daytona Beach session next February. IMCA President Brett Root and Vice President of Operations Jim Stannard will attend the Nov. 14-15 workshop at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and Dec. 9 workshop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Media Center. The Feb. 14-15 workshop will be held at the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Walk Village.
