Clay County, Buena Vista Raceway host final IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour dates

SPENCER, Iowa – Their consistency has put Kelly Shryock and Joel Rust in the top two spots in point standings for the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour. Both will be looking to earn the series championship when the IMCA Modified tour concludes with events on Monday, Aug. 7 at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer and Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta. Shryock’s runner-up finish in the most recent tour feature at Dubuque put him back in first in the points race. The veteran from Fertile has finished outside the top five just once through the first seven tour events of the season while Rust owns four top-five showings. Monday’s main event at Spencer pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $200 to start while the Alta race pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start. From Bullring to Highbanks for URSS this weekend

LaCROSSE, Wis. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will go to extremes this weekend as they first visit the quarter mile Bullring at the Rush County Fairgrounds in LaCrosse, Kan., on Friday night and then pack up and head to the big half mile at the famed Belleville Highbanks Saturday to fill the card of the Belleville Midget Nationals Championship night. Leading the Rebels into the $500 to win show on Friday will be point leader Steven Richardson out of Liberal, who recently won the first night of the Wheatshocker Nationals in Hays. Looking for their first URSS win of the season will be Plainville’s Jed Werner who sits a mere 20 points be­hind in second and Quinter’s Zach Blurton, only two points behind Werner in third. Oklahoma’s Ty Williams who won in Lexington, Neb., sits fourh with North Platte winner McCook Neb.’s Darren Berry rounding out the top five. Kansas Thunder Series returns to Norton

(July 29) –The Kansas Thunder Series took Friday night off after a two-day show at Os­borne Speedway Wednesday and Thursday, then took to the half-mile at Elmwood Park Speedway Satur­day evening before a big crowd. Adam Webber led the opening lap of the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature before Tracy Holloway took the lead.  As the field came to the white flag, Dakota Sproul took over the top spot and beat Holloway to the finish line. Weber finished third. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature saw the top six drivers in a close race with Jason Rogers in com­mand.  A late-race wreck involving Kyle Pfeifer and Tony Blickenstaff set up a green, white, checkered finish. Rogers held off Casey Woken and Dustin McClurg for the win. Garrett Hager took the lead from Cody Williams on lap two of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and drove away for the win. Top Summerfest checks are $1,000 in three IMCA divisions 

DONNELLSON, Iowa – Three IMCA divisions race for $1,000 top checks both nights of Lee County Speedway’s Thursday and Friday, Aug. 3 and 4 Summerfest special. Features for the IMCA Modifieds are qualifying events for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winners go home with a grand each night as well while Mach-1 Sport Compact winners each night earn $300. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded for both shows. Stocks, SportMods and Sport Compacts also earn track points. Start money is $100 for Modifieds, $90 for Stocks and SportMods and $50 for Sport Compacts. Entry fee and tow are $50 for the Modifieds, $40 for the Stocks and SportMods and $25 for the Sport Compacts. Two-night IMCA One Night Stand is this weekend at LaSalle Speedway 

LaSALLE, Ill. – One night of IMCA racing just won’t be enough for the One Night Stand at LaSalle Speed­way. Presented by Hoker Trucking, the third annual spe­cial retains its name while expanding to two days Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4 and 5. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Late Models and Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMods race each race for $1,000 to win on opening night and for $3,000 to win on night two. Both Modified features are qualifying events for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speed­way Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Per­formance State points will be awarded both nights in all three divisions; Side Biter Chassis North Central Re­gion points will be given for each Modified show as well. There are no entry fees. Minimum start money on Friday is $200 for Late Mod­els and $125 for Modifieds. Late Models get $250 to start, Modifieds $150 to start on Saturday. ARLINGTON, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars bat­tle it out for $1,500 to win at Arlington Raceway’s Wednesday, Aug. 2 Sibley County Stock Car Shootout. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $750 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for a $400 top check that evening. Taylor, Cox battle for BST CAT Tour Championship

(July 28) – The BST CAT Tour for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars travels around Colorado to three different dirt tracks, El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke and I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan. The new kid on the block is Lonnie Cox, who previously raced in Arizona and is only one point away from Wyoming’s favorite Sprint Car racer, Zac Taylor. Cox has taken a win at El Paso County Raceway and a second at Phillips County Raceway behind Darin Berry, a Nebraska favorite, while Taylor has taken two wins at I-76 Speedway. Currently, Taylor leads in points at 152 but Cox is right behind at 151. During the July 21 tour heat races at El Paso County Raceway, Cox got into the wall and Taylor came in third.  Lineups looked good for the young Taylor, however the event rainout before the feature race started. Whole Lotta Cash at stake in Aug. 2-5 IMCA Modified features 

ALTA, Iowa – Four $1,000 to win IMCA Modified events in as many nights are on Race For The Dash and a Whole Lotta Cash cards in early August. Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying fea­tures are scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta; Thursday, Aug. 3 at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona; Friday, Aug. 4 at Crawford County Speedway in Denison; and Saturday, Aug. 5 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan. The Algona show is during the county fair; BVR, Craw­ford County and Shelby County events are also Dash at the Clash qualifiers for the Aug. 8 Harris Clash at Hamil­ton County Speedway. All regular weekly divisions run each night at each track. Racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps at Harlan, 6:45 p.m. hot laps at Alta and 7 p.m. hot laps at Algona and Den­ison.

Lawn seating available for Driver Appreciation Night at Dodge City 

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – All of southwest Kansas and beyond is abuzz about this Friday’s “Driver Appreciation Night” event at Dodge City Raceway Park. With drivers doling out tickets to the event to enhance their chances at landing the bigger prizes that will be awarded during the evening, a capacity crowd is expected to fill the grandstands and possibly then some. To accommodate the crowd, the grassy area to the north of the grandstand seating area will be available to use for lawn chair seating on Friday night. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to en­sure a good seat in the grandstands or to bring a lawn chair to set up a comfortable vantage point to take in the night’s racing action that includes the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. 2017 Super Nationals

IMCA focused on best event in Super Nationals history

BOONE, Iowa – Drivers and fans won’t see a lot of changes in the facility or the format when they pull into Boone Speedway for the Sept. 4-9 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. And IMCA President Brett Root believes that’s a good thing. “There are no race night changes. There were no major changes to the speedway since last year’s Super Nationals. This year we can focus on logistics and putting on the best event possible,” he said. “We are positioned to putting on the best event in the 35-year history of Super Nationals.” Southern SportMods joined the opening night card when they were added to the program last year and the Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models moved to Thursday.
