IMCA Modified features at Jim Marsh Classic pay $1,000 to win

TONOPAH, Nev. – IMCA Modified features at Tonopah Speedway’s Jim Marsh Classic special will pay $1,000 to win. The Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19 main events are qualifiers for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded both nights. Car and driver each night is $100; pre-entry fee for both nights is $175. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. both days. $1,000 awaits Sprint Series of Oklahoma winner Saturday in Enid

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products rolls on Saturday night, Aug. 12 as the tour will make its first and only scheduled appearance at Enid Speedway. Courtesy of co-promoter Kip and Heidi Hughes, this event will pay $1000 to win, up from the stand­ard $750 to win. This event will be the fifth weekend in-a-row the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series, presented by Smi­ley’s Racing Products, will be in action. After the conclusion of this event at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, three more dates are scheduled before the end of August. Jake Martens comes in as series point leader but is looking over his shoulder as inaugural series champion Danny Shouse, winner of a tour-best four features thus far this season, is closing the gap. BST CAT championship program this weekend 

By Suzan McCoy CALHAN, Colo. – While rain has been a challenge throughout the season, IMCA race teams in five divi­sions will challenge for BST CAT championships this Saturday, Aug. 12 at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan. The BST CAT Tour features IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. This tour has traveled to four differ­ent dirt tracks located in Colorado, Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, I-76 Speedway in Fort Mor­gan, and Lamar Speedway in Lamar in addition to El Paso County. The leader in the Modified standings is John Burrow Jr. with 247 points, but Greg Sharpe is right behind with 243. A.J. PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Pre-registration for race number five of the Beer Hill Cup Series has topped 40 as IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car teams look forward to a beauti­ful Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway. Aug. 5 is 

Slivinski Law Office Salute to the Military/Fan Appreciation Night at Port Royal and adult general admission is $10 for the evening race program. All veterans and active military personnel with proper ID receive free grandstand admission Saturday night and PASS American flag decals will be available to these honored guests.

 Student admission is $7. Beer Hill Cup shirts for sale and a number of shirts will be given away during the program. Jake Waters will be the guest announcer and have some special an­nouncements of upcoming events for the series.

IMCA Modified stars will shine at Hancock County specials Aug. 10-12 

BRITT, Iowa – The stars of the IMCA Modified division will shine during a rich three nights of racing at Hancock County Speedway. The Thursday, Aug. 10 Night of 1,000 Stars at Britt pays a guaranteed $3,500 to win, plus a bonus of $1,000 to the leader at halfway and another $1,000 if they have perfect attendance this season at Britt. The Night of 10,000 Stars on Friday, Aug. 11 boasts a $7,000 top check, plus $1,000 bonuses to the halfway leader, for perfect attendance and for having won on Thursday as well. IMCA RaceSaver Sprints new to Front Row Challenge 

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – IMCA RaceRaver Sprint Cars have been added to the lineup at the Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa on Monday, Aug. 7. The feature will pay $750 to win, and in Front Row Challenge fashion there will be more contingencies for heat and feature winners. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. The 410 winner of this year’s Front Row Challenge will again bank $20,000, one of the highest one-day payouts in the country.  In addition to the big payday, this year’s winner will be awarded a golden ticket to both the Dirt Classic Ohio event at Attica Raceway Park Sept. 1 and 2 and the Dirt Classic 4 on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown, Pa. Two IMCA Modified features at Lovelock’s Frontier Days 

LOVELOCK, Nev. – Two IMCA Modified features are on the schedule during Lovelock Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4-5 Frontier Days. Presenting the 40-lap features are the Nile Valley Race Club and Pershing County Rec Board. A field of 15 or more cars races for $750 to win on opening night while a field of 20 or more vies for $1,000 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth on night two. Clay County, Buena Vista Raceway host final IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour dates

SPENCER, Iowa – Their consistency has put Kelly Shryock and Joel Rust in the top two spots in point standings for the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour. Both will be looking to earn the series championship when the IMCA Modified tour concludes with events on Monday, Aug. 7 at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer and Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta. Shryock’s runner-up finish in the most recent tour feature at Dubuque put him back in first in the points race. The veteran from Fertile has finished outside the top five just once through the first seven tour events of the season while Rust owns four top-five showings. From Bullring to Highbanks for URSS this weekend

LaCROSSE, Wis. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will go to extremes this weekend as they first visit the quarter mile Bullring at the Rush County Fairgrounds in LaCrosse, Kan., on Friday night and then pack up and head to the big half mile at the famed Belleville Highbanks Saturday to fill the card of the Belleville Midget Nationals Championship night. Leading the Rebels into the $500 to win show on Friday will be point leader Steven Richardson out of Liberal, who recently won the first night of the Wheatshocker Nationals in Hays. Looking for their first URSS win of the season will be Plainville’s Jed Werner who sits a mere 20 points be­hind in second and Quinter’s Zach Blurton, only two points behind Werner in third. Kansas Thunder Series returns to Norton

(July 29) –The Kansas Thunder Series took Friday night off after a two-day show at Os­borne Speedway Wednesday and Thursday, then took to the half-mile at Elmwood Park Speedway Satur­day evening before a big crowd. Adam Webber led the opening lap of the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature before Tracy Holloway took the lead.  As the field came to the white flag, Dakota Sproul took over the top spot and beat Holloway to the finish line. Weber finished third. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature saw the top six drivers in a close race with Jason Rogers in com­mand.  A late-race wreck involving Kyle Pfeifer and Tony Blickenstaff set up a green, white, checkered finish.
