Plenty of variety to May events at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – With the opening two nights of action in the books at Dodge City Raceway Park, attention shifts to the variety of events slated for the approaching month of May. The state-of-the-art facility in southwest Kansas offers up a little something for everybody in May with Late Models and Sprint Cars taking to the 3/8-mile clay oval along with the track’s always exciting championship chase divisions. Championship point action for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars on May 3 will be complemented by the first Late Model event at DCRP since the 2011 season as the MARS DIRTcar Series squares off with the forces of the NCRA Late Model series. Red, White & Blue Series starts Saturday at 141 Speedway

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – The first of three $1,000 to win Gandrud Chevrolet Red, White and Blue Series events for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds is this Saturday, May 3 at 141 Speedway. A minimum of $120 will be paid to start the feature, which is a 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional ballot qualifier. The series continues July 5 and Aug. 9. The top driver in overall points from the three RW&B shows receives a 604 crate engine from Gandrud Chevrolet of Green Bay. EQ Wild West Tour opens with doubleheader at Delta

DELTA, Utah (April 29) – The eighth annual EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour opens this weekend at Millard County Raceway, with a pair of $1,000 to win features for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Pit gates at Delta open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Both features are qualifying events for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and all applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Electric City postpones Spring Roundup to May 2-3

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (April 24) – Electric City Speedway has postponed its season-opening Mon­tana Spring Roundup to next Friday and Saturday, May 2-3. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $500 to win and a minimum of $75 to start in their first appearances in Montana since the mid-1990s. An open practice starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. HOLYOKE, Colo. (April 23) – IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars make their Colorado debut this weekend, with BST Series dates at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke and I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan. Racing starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Phillips County. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the card . JACKSON, Minn. (April 23) – Opening night of the third annual Redline Racing Parts North Star Series takes five IMCA divisions to Jackson Speedway this Saturday night. The April 26 lidlifter sees IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts in action. IMCA Late Model point season starts April 25

VINTON, Iowa (April 22) – Opening night for the 2014 IMCA Late Model point season is this Fri­day, April 25. Points will be awarded through Sunday, Aug. 31. Regular Friday night sanc­tions are at Davenport Speedway, Farley Speedway and the Iowa State Fair­grounds Speedway in Des Moines. Saturday tracks are Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Independence Motor Speed­way, Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa, Shelby County Speedway in Harlan and West Liberty Raceway. Sunday sanctions are at Dubu­que Speedway and Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill. Eight midweek dates, all but one of them on Wednesdays, are scheduled at Southern Iowa Speed­way in Oskaloosa. Benton County Speedway in Vinton, I-35 Speedway in Mason City and Stuart Speedway each host four events in the inaugural IMCA Late Model Sunday Se­ries. National, state and local track champions will be an­nounced after IMCA staff return from the Sept. 1-6 IMCA Speed­way Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

IMCA Modifieds make Montana return at Electric City’s April 25-26 Spring Roundup

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds make their return to Montana, headlining both nights of the April 25-26 Spring Roundup special at Electric City Speedway. The Friday and Saturday night features each pay $500 to win and a minimum of $75 to start. The Spring Roundup starts the 61st continuous season of operation at Great Falls, a 3/10-mile high-banked clay oval.
