Thornton crosses Night of 10,000 Stars off IMCA Modified must-win list, earns $8,000

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 10) – Ricky Thornton Jr. crossed another race off his must-win list Friday at Hancock County Speedway. Thornton started on the pole and led all 50 laps of the Night of 10,000 Stars main event for IMCA Modifieds. His $8,000 share of the purse included a $1,000 bonus for leading at halfway. “This is the first time I’ve ever won at Britt,” the new 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier said. “If you’re going to win your first race at a track, you should do it on a big night like tonight.” Hunter Marriott, winner of Thursday’s Night of 1,000 Stars, raced from 14th starting to finish second. Marriott shines at Hancock County’s Night of 1,000 Stars

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 9) – Hunter Marriott starred on a different night Thursday at Hancock County Speedway. Marriott battled Cayden Carter and Kyle Strickler before taking charge late in Thursday’s 24th annual Night of 1,000 Stars main event at Britt, earning $3,500 for the 50-lap IMCA Modified victory. “I was patient and when I had opportunities I took advantage of them,” Marriott said following his latest Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying win. “I got to second right away after the break and passed for the lead with about eight laps to go.” Last year’s event runner-up as well as the two-time defending Night of 10,000 Stars winner, Marriott had worked his way toward the front from the 12th starting spot as early leader Strickler gave way to Carter following a restart. IMCA Modified stars shine at Hancock County specials

BRITT, Iowa – Three very rich nights of racing give the stars of the IMCA Modified division the opportunity to shine at Hancock County Speedway. The Thursday, Aug. 9 Night of 1,000 Stars at Britt pays a guaranteed $3,500 to win and $300 to start, plus a bonus of $1,000 to the leader at halfway and another $1,000 if the winner has perfect attendance at Britt this season. The Night of 10,000 Stars on Friday, Aug. 10 sports a $7,000 top check, plus $1,000 bonuses to the halfway leader, for perfect attendance and for having won on Thursday as well. A minimum of $400 will be paid to start that main event. And the Saturday, Aug. 11 Bob Shryock Memorial All Stars pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $500 to start. Zevenbergen repeats, banks another $4,000 for latest Hobo 100 feature win

BRITT, Iowa (July 27) – No rally was needed for Elijah Zevenbergen to repeat as the winner of Hancock County Speedway’s Hobo 100 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car special. Zevenbergen had raced his way back to the front with five laps to go in the 2017 race. He started 10th, had the lead just five circuits in and stayed in front to the finish Friday night in winning the event a second straight year and taking home another $4,000 check. “The car was set up perfect. I could drive in the corners deeper than anyone else,” he said. “I just went to the high side and picked ‘em off.” Zevenbergen built up a big lead as the race stayed green, then outran 14th starting Jeff Mueller following a caution late in the 25-lapper. Strickler is best at Britt for IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour win

BRITT, Iowa (July 24) – There’s something about Hancock County Speedway that brings out the best in Kyle Strickler. Strickler led every lap in winning Tuesday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour feature for IMCA Modifieds, earning $2,000 along with a spot on the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Hunter Marriott followed his Monday night victory at Park Jefferson Speedway with a runner-up finish. He pressured Strickler throughout the first half of the race and was joined by Ryan Ruter in hot pursuit the last half. Strickler, however, was able to lengthen his lead on the rest of the field before taking the checkers. The victory was Strickler’s Dirt Knights Tour career third and all have been at Britt. BRITT, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Hancock County Speedway’s Friday, July 27 Hobo 100, racing for a top prize of $4,000. Rounding out the card are IMCA Modifieds vying for $2,000 to win and a berth on the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Iowa State, but no local track points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for four and under. Hancock County reschedules Northern SportMod Nationals to July 10

BRITT, Iowa (June 19) – Chalk up a “W” for Mother Nature tonight in Britt. Due to rain, already wet track conditions and a less than stellar forecast, Hancock County Speedway’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Nationals have been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 10. The MaxYield Seed-sponsored special pays $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. The evening’s IMCA Modified feature pays $1,000 to win and is both a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and Wehr’s Dash at the Harris Clash qualifier. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $600 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Iowa State, but no track points will be awarded.
