Zevenbergen repeats, banks another $4,000 for latest Hobo 100 feature win

BRITT, Iowa (July 27) – No rally was needed for Elijah Zevenbergen to repeat as the winner of Hancock County Speedway’s Hobo 100 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car special.

Zevenbergen had raced his way back to the front with five laps to go in the 2017 race.

He started 10th, had the lead just five circuits in and stayed in front to the finish Friday night in winning the event a second straight year and taking home another $4,000 check.

“The car was set up perfect. I could drive in the corners deeper than anyone else,” he said. “I just went to the high side and picked ‘em off.”

Zevenbergen built up a big lead as the race stayed green, then outran 14th starting Jeff Mueller following a caution late in the 25-lapper.

Randy Brands, Brandon Czarapata and Cayden Carter rounded out the top five.

Fifty Stock Cars battled at Britt.

Carter won the IMCA Modified feature, earning $2,000 and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bal­lot nod.

Cody Thompson raced from 17th starting to win the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature and $1,000. Chanse Hollatz topped the $500 to win IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main.

Thornton sets tone with Night of 1,000 Stars feature win

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 8) – At halfway, Ricky Thornton Jr. had to be wondering if fuel issues were going to resurface and knock him out of the running. Hancock County hosts $1,100 to win show for IMCA Stock Cars

BRITT, Iowa – Two trips to Hancock County Speedway’s victory lane on Friday, July 16 will send an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car driver home with $1,600.  That evening’s main event for The Class Too Tough To Tame pays $1,100 and makes the winner eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational, while the Stock Car King of the Hill pays another $500 to win.  There is no entry fee and IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts round out the draw/redraw show. Pit passes are $30 and spectator admission is $10 for adults and free for kids ages 12 and under. Hancock County Speedway hosts IMCA Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour

BRITT, Iowa – One streak is guaranteed to continue when the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds travels to Hancock County Speedway on July 28. Ethan Braaksma hopes to continue a streak of his own next Tuesday at Britt as well. Hancock County Speedway is the only track to have hosted a Dirt Knights event every year since the tour started in 2010, with eight different drivers winning features over the course of the first 10 visits.
