IMCA Stock Cars chase $4,000 check at Hancock County’s Hobo 100

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2024) – Three different drivers were in the second position at different times of Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Hancock County Speedway. Jerry Flippo, however, proved to be the one who could move up a spot. Flippo, who has suffered through a summer of bad luck, finished the race more than a half track ahead of eventual runner-up Cody Knecht. Knecht charged from sixth to finish ahead of Clint Hatlestad and Jeremy Mills.  In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Troy Swearingen made the last lap count as he made a huge move to the bottom of turns one and two to sweep up in front of long-time leader Parker Slagle. By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (June 7, 2024) – Cloudy skies and early sprinkles did little to dampen the exciting action on Friday night at Hancock County Speedway, with IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars competing for a $2,000 Hobo Hustle top prize. Landus was the night’s title sponsor.  Kelly Shryock hustled to the lead the early in the  feature and motored out to a sizeable advantage that he held throughout much of the race. While he was leading, the action throughout the rest of the field was intense, as Colby Fett made a late-race run around the outside of the speedway to ultimately finish second. Troy Swearingen was in contention all night and finished third, ahead of Dan Mackenthun and Heath Tulp. By Chad Meyer  BRITT, Iowa (June 16) – Alec Fett raced to a career highlight win Tuesday night, getting the best of Brian Osantowski at Hancock County Speedway’s MaxYield Seed SportMod Nationals.  The $2,500 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory came in a nailbiter as Fett had to race his way back to the front and outrun Osantowski and his brother Colby to the stripe. Fett had won the first heat and finished second in the dash, which put him in the preferred outside line of row for the initial start of the main event. Alec led by narrow margin with Colby on the low line. Osantowski had opted to not run the dash to save his car, forcing him to start 10th in the main, but by mid-point of the feature was challenging Alec Fett. They raced several times side by side in the second half of the event with Fett narrowly maintaining his advantage at the stripe.
