Madrid gets first IMCA Stock Car win in New Year’s special

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Jan. 1) – The 10th annual New Year’s Day special at Arizona Speedway ranked a solid 10 with Zachary Madrid. Madrid earned $1,000 for his career-first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory in the 2021 opener. The Friday win was also his 40-lap first in any division. “The car is wicked fast and I couldn’t have asked for a better setup,” said Madrid, who had debuted the Mike Shea-owned 2020 IROC ride last November at the Duel In The Desert. “We’ll take a $1,000 win any time we can get it.” The 2019 IMCA Modified track champion at San Tan Valley, Madrid on the front row and inside father Anthony. IMCA Stock Cars chase $1,000 top check at Arizona Speedway’s New Year’s Day special

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars start the 2021 season with a $1,000 to win main event at Arizona Speedway’s 10th annual New Year’s Day special. Forty laps will be the distance for the Jan. 1 feature and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance Arizona State points will be awarded. Transponders are required. Pit gates open at 10:30 a.m. and spectator gates open at 11:30 a.m. Racing starts at 1 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and kids 11 and under are free. Thornton, Hollatz, Thompson are Night 2 IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour winners

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Feb. 8) – Ricky Thornton Jr., Chanse Hollatz and Cody Thompson all took another step up on the podium Saturday at Arizona Speedway.  Each had been runner-up in IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour features on opening night, then turned in checkered flag performances on night two at San Tan Valley. Thornton reeled in Drew Armstrong to win the IMCA Modified main event and $2,000. Hollatz domi­nated from the start of the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner and Thompson got the best of Tyler Soppe and Brian Osantowski in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod show, which also paid $750 to win.  After two early cautions, Armstrong led the first 16 laps of the Modified main with Thornton and Friday winner Chaz Baca close behind. Baca gets best win in Arizona Dirt Track Tour opener for IMCA Modifieds at San Tan Valley

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Feb. 7) – A driver who’s already been busy racking up feature wins this season had a career highlight victory to talk about following the IMCA Modified feature on opening night of the IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour.  Chaz Baca got the best of Ricky Thornton Jr. in the $2,000 to win main event Friday at Arizona Speedway. The quick-paced 25-lapper at San Tan Valley ran caution-free and saw the front pair work through heavy traffic before Baca edged ahead and beat Thornton to the stripe by half a second. “That was the most exciting race I think I’ve ever run. Arizona IMCA Dirt Track Tour primed for Feb. 6-15 run

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – With three successful tours in as many years, the fourth annual IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour will boast half a dozen $2,000 to win, minimum $150 to start IMCA Modi­fied events Feb. 6-15. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars on Jan. 1 card at Arizona Speedway

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. – The first green flag of the 2020 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season flies Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Arizona Speedway.  A 40-lap feature for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is on the program for the ninth annual New Year’s Day special. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region and E3 Spark Plugs Arizona State points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 10 a.m., the grandstand opens at 11 a.m. and racing is at noon.  Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and seniors and free for kids ages 11 and under. Pit passes are $35 for adults, $10 for kids ages 7-12 and free for six and under.

Baca, Madrid get IMCA Modified wins at John Morris Classic

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (May 25-26) – Chaz Baca got his first win of the season on opening night while Zachary Madrid’s victory on night two of the John Morris Classic at Arizona Speedway got him on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Baca led start to finish in the Saturday feature, starting third and pulling away from the rest of the IMCA Modified field after a pair of late cautions. Making the most of the fast top line, he took the checkers ahead of Tyler Mecl and Madrid. Three IMCA divisions run at Arizona Speedway’s John Morris Classic

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – Three IMCA divisions are on the card both nights of Arizona Speedway’s Memorial Weekend John Morris Classic. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both chase top checks of $500 at Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26 shows.  Both programs are draw/redraw and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs Arizona State and track points will be awarded. Entry fee is $25 for Modifieds and $20 for Stock Cars and SportMods. Noll goes with what he knows to get IMCA All Star Night win

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (March 16) – Going back to the drawing board got Jason Noll back in victory lane. Noll topped Saturday’s All Star Night main event for IMCA Modifieds at Arizona Speedway, outrunning hard-charging Kelsie Foley for the $1,000 checkers. “It was a really racy track,” said Noll, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “It was fast if you could hit the top right and the bottom in (turns) one and two was really good. I could get through there really well.” Noll had started fifth and dueled early with Shawn Strand, Zach Madrid and Tyler Mecl. He caught Strand for the lead following a lap seven restart and stayed in front to the finish. Foley motored from 14th to take runner-up honors. Thornton slices, dices through traffic for night two Arizona IMCA Modified Tour win

(Feb. 9) – Round 2 of the 2019 edition of the Arizona Modified Tour brought even more great racing to the table as the competitors battled it out to try and come out on top Saturday at Arizona Speedway.  Ricky Thornton Jr. was the night’s biggest titan of the 25 IMCA Modified starters in the feature action, as he drove through lapped traffic the most efficiently in the wire-to-wire contest and came away with his third career Arizona Modified Tour victory. Fargo, N.D., was represented well as hometown drivers Casey Arneson and Dylan Goplen led the field to the green flag in the Modified feature.
