IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals totes potential $5,000 top prize

EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 11) – The more than 130 drivers already pre-entered for the Sept. 1-4 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals main event will now be racing for a potential $5,000 top prize. In addition to the guaranteed $2,500, IMCA will pay the Sprint Nationals champion a bonus of $50 for each sanctioned start they’ve made this season. That means a driver who’s made 50 IMCA starts and takes the Sept. 4 checkers at Eagle Raceway can double his or her money. “We have paid bonuses based on the number of sanctioned starts to champions at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s for several years,” said Brett Root, president of the sanctioning body. “The growth of the IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car division and the entry numbers for this event certainly justify paying a similar bonus at Sprint Nationals.” That bonus will be presented during the IMCA national awards banquet in November. Hancock County IMCA Stars specials are postponed

BRITT, Iowa – Each of the three Iowa Modified Speedweek specials at Hancock County Speedway have been postponed because of inclement weather. The Night of 1,000 Stars will now be held Friday, Aug. 12; The Night of 10,000 Stars on Saturday, Aug. 13, and the All Star Show on Sunday, Aug. 14 at Britt. Racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. hot laps on Sunday. All three Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main events boast potential winner’s checks of $10,000. The 50-lappers are qualifiers for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. All three events will be broadcast by IMCA.TV. Marriott’s IMCA Modified ‘A’ game is good for second Hawkeye Dirt Tour win in three nights

ALTA, Iowa (Aug. 10) – Hunter Marriott brought his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified ‘A’ game to Buena Vista Raceway on Wednesday. The result was his second Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature win in three nights. Marriott restarted inside row one after frontrunners Chris Abelson and Kyle Strickler got together to bring out a lap six caution, then led the last 25 times around the track to top the $1,500-to-win feature at Alta. Possible $30,000 to win at Hancock County specials

BRITT, Iowa – The stars of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified division will shine in three Iowa Speedweek events at Hancock County Speedway. United Rebel Sprint Series visits Stockton Friday

STOCKTON, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will make its first appearance on the historic half-mile oval at the Rooks County Speedway Friday night, Aug. 12 as part of the Kansas Thunder Series. Rust wins thriller at 25th annual Harris Clash

By Ryan Clark WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 9) – Joel Rust had the greatest seat for the best race in the house for most of 25 laps Tuesday night at Hamilton County Speedway. Little did he know, a short time later it would lead the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified driver to a victory lane celebration as the winner of the Harris Clash. Rust, who started inside of row two, chased front row starters Chris Abelson and Kelly Shryock for all but three-quarters of a lap in the 25th annual event. Contact between the front-runners allowed Rust to escape to the first Harris Clash win of his career. Abelson built an early lead while Shryock pursued multiple car-lengths behind him. Shryock closed to within a car-length by lap 10 and searched high and low to work past the leader. Rutkoski races to $1,000 payday at Flomaton

FLOMATON, Ala. (Aug. 6) – Kyle Rutkoski’s continued Bay Area Emerald Coast Tour success has put him on the ballot for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Rutkoski won Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature and $1,000 during the Jarrod Johns Memorial program at Flomaton Speedway. Rain delayed the drop of the green. Once the main event got underway, Brandon Harris took the early lead as Josh Goodwin tried to reel him in. Rutkoski made his way to the front and set his sights on the big check. In the closing laps, Jason Barnhill tried every line to make up the distance was trying to catch Rutkoski. Pattee’s first win comes at Independence’s 500th IMCA Modified main

By Bucky Doren INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Aug. 6) – It was a double milestone night Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway. On the night the track celebrated its 500th IMCA Modified feature event, driver Tysus Pattee scored his first career win in that division. Despite his front row starting spot, Pattee had to work hard for his first career win. Three late caution flags tightened the field behind him. Jenae Gustin, who also scored her first two career IMCA Modified wins at Indee, and Ronn Lauritzen tried to keep pace on those three restarts, but Pattee was able to pull away for the historic win. Gustin settled for second. Lauritzen drove from the 11th place starting spot to finish third. Ryan Maitland finished fourth and Vern Jackson rounded out the top five. LEXINGTON, Neb. (Aug. 7) – With limited time remaining in the regular season, every point matters that much more and the fierce competition showcased at Lexington Raceway on Sunday evening was evident of the neck-and-neck battles throughout the evening on the Dawson County Fairgrounds. Leading from the onset and never looking back was Colton Osborn as he put on a dominating performance to win the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature.
