Sprint Series of Oklahoma back in action Friday at Ardmore

By David Smith, Jr. ARDMORE, Okla. – Andy Shouse leads the Sprint Series of Oklahoma to Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore this coming Friday night, May 20, as the IMCA EMI RaceSaver tour is once again part of the tracks “Fast 5 Friday” series. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with race action slated for a 7:30 p.m. start time. Grandstand prices are $15 for ages 13 and up and $10 for ages 6-12. All pit passes will be $30. In the tour’s last appearance at SOS it was John Carney II picking up his third victory of the season over Joe Wood Jr. and Shouse with a 20-car field pitside. Carney has won three events thus far this season while Brandon Long and Jake Martens have each captured single victories. Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located off I-35 to exit 29, then east on Highway 70 for seven tenth’s of a mile and then south on Highway 77 for two miles.

July 20 is rescheduled Deery Series date at Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series will light up Maquoketa Speedway on Wednesday, July 20. Touring IMCA Late Models make that visit after installation of new Musco lighting as well as a new sound system are complete. The evening’s main event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. No change was made in the daily schedule from the original race date of May 18, as both pit gates and the grandstand will open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow. The series’ halfway point fund of $9,325 will now be paid following the July 7 event at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and street stocks will also be on the program at Maquoketa. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance state points will be awarded.

IMCA Modified features at Can-Am Shootout pay $1,000 to win

WILLISTON, N.D. – Williston Basin Speedway hosts its Can-Am Shootout special this weekend, with $1,000 to win Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified features on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 race night cards. Both events are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. Entry fees are $50 and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, BMS North Central Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be given each night. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing is at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military, $5 for kids ages 8-14 and free for seven and under. Holladay opens season with back-to-back IMCA Late Model victories at West Liberty

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Eighteen starts netted a pair of IMCA Late Model feature wins for Chad Holladay last season. He equaled that total in just two nights out at always-tough West Liberty Raceway this spring. From Muscatine, Holladay topped the season opener on April 23, then added the May 7 checkers to his collection. “It really means a lot to be able to win at West Liberty,” he said. “To finish in front of that caliber of drivers is really something. Farley Speedway to host IMCA Late Model special

The Tri-Track Challenge will feature a special night of racing in the Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model division. A 50-lap feature will headline the racing program with the winner in the Late Models going home $2,000 richer. This special event is expected to draw a large field of competitors in the exciting Late Model class. In addition to Late Models all weekly divisions will also be in action that evening. Riley rules Raceway Park’s Jim Johnson Memorial

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 15) – Dave Riley got the best of a stellar field of IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, at Raceway Park’s Jim Johnson Memorial. Riley matched the highest-paying wins of his career with the $1,000 Sunday night checkers. Front row starter Tony Fetterman had shot to the lead and held off various challengers throughout three restarts. Following the fourth caution, Riley made his move on the outside in turns three and four to take over up front. A late caution resulted in a green, white, checkered finish and Riley denied a final charge by Fetterman to take the victory, his third this season at Jefferson including opening night of the South Dakota Spring Nationals. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint cars join Badlands Motor Speedway’s Saturday lineup

BRANDON, S.D. – Good things are in store this season for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers and fans of the winged division at Badlands Motor Speedway. The sanctioned division returns to weekly shows at the much-renovated dirt facility in Brandon. Day has best night in Sprint Series of Texas show at Boothill Speedway

GREENWOOD, La. (May 14) – Jeff Day crossed the state line to race his way to victory lane in a second IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car tour Saturday night. Day topped the Sprint Series of Texas feature at Louisiana’s Boothill Speedway, outrunning Jason Howell to the checkers. Day’s son Michael, Dustin Woods and Ty Johnson completed the top five. The 25-lapper was interrupted by just a single caution and the frontrunners had to negotiate traffic much of the way. Michael Day started on the pole, directly in front of his father, and led early.
