Kay collects two crowns at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 25) – Justin Kay wrote his name in the record books following Friday’s season championship races at Farley Speedway presented by Casey’s General Store. Kay was crowned the track champion in both the IMCA Late Model and IMCA Modified divisions, matching a feat accomplished previously by only two other drivers. Kay took charge of the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature when the green flag waved and despite several attempts by strong-running Tyler Bruening scored the feature win and track championship. Kay’s run to the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modified title was slightly easier as he held the point the entire 20 laps and scored a comfortable win over Mark Schultz. Lower line leads Shouse to sprint win at Longdale

(Aug. 26) – Andy Shouse found the bottom of the track was the place to be just past the midway point of Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at Longdale Speedway. As a result, the defending champion motored to the checkers in the Sprint Series of Oklahoma event co-sanctioned with the United Rebel Sprint Series. Zach Blurton had begun putting slower cars down on lap nine and continued with a comfortable lead. The first caution of the feature fell on lap 14. While pacing under caution, Shouse worked the bottom and found it to his liking. On the restart, he quickly disposed of Taylor Velasquez for the runner-up position. Shouse kept working the low side around the big 3/8-mile oval and made his move to the front on lap 18, throttling away down the backstretch and quickly opening a half stretch lead over Blurton. Davenport Speedway crowns track champions

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 25) – Friday was Season Championship night at the Davenport Speedway sponsored by Cintas and 2017 track champions were crowned in all weekly classes. Matt Ryan capped his Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model championship season with his sixth feature win of the season. Ryan jumped out to the early race lead after starting on the pole. Rob Toland used the bottom groove to catch Ryan and take the lead on lap two. Ryan re-gained the lead several laps later. After a lap 12 restart, the lead swapping resumed. Eventually, Ryan took the lead for good and drove to the title. Toland was second and Terry Neal took third. Bryce Garnhart finally captured his first Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified feature win. It came on the same night as his first Modified track championship at Davenport. Garnhart led all 20 laps en route to the win. Canyon’s Labor Day Weekend special features three IMCA divisions

PEORIA, Ariz. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths both nights of Canyon Speedway Park’s Labor Day Weekend Shootout. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3 features. Pill draw both nights is $25 and entry fee is $25. On Saturday, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $300 to win and a minimum of $40 to start with $10 pill draw. Sunday’s 100-lap feature pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start with a $50 pill draw. Defending champion is Aaron Spangler. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Four sanctioned divisions are on the card for the Friday, Sept. 1 Showdown at Motown, with IMCA Modifieds running for $1,000 to win and a spot on the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both vie for $500 to win while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks chase a top check of $300. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and free for kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $30. Three IMCA Modified features slated at Gillette’s East-West Clash

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Gillette Thunder Speedway hosts three $1,000 to win features for IMCA Modifieds over the course of its 18th annual East-West Clash special Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-3. All three features are 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. Saturday and Sunday features both pay a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded each night. Entry fee is $75 each night. Changes announced in Monday Super Nationals schedule for Hobby Stocks, both SportMod divisions

BOONE, Iowa – A change in the Monday night IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals schedule for Hobby Stocks and both SportMod divisions has been announced. Qualifying heats for both the Stephenville Starter Race of Champions for Hobby Stocks and the BSB Manufacturing Race of Champions for Northern SportMods move from Tuesday to the Monday, Sept. 4 opening night program at Boone Speedway. Main event qualifying for both the Hobbies and Northern SportMod divisions remains on the first night card. The Southern SportMod program originally scheduled on Monday will not be held. “The number of drivers in the division pre-entered for Super Nationals did not meet our requirements,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “We do appreciate Southern SportMod drivers who did pre-register and they will receive a complimentary 2018 IMCA license for that division along with a refund of their pre-registration and any pit parking fees.”

2017 Super Nationals logo is required for entry in best appearing car contest

BOONE, Iowa – There’s no particular theme, just one important requirement for Modified and Northern SportMod drivers planning to enter the Best Appearing Car contest for their respective divisions at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. In addition to required decals for the division, entries must incorporate the 2017 Super Nationals logo, in original and unaltered colors, in the overall design. The logo must be a minimum of 20 inches wide and 13 inches tall and located on the nose or side of the car. Golden Empire Towing of Bakersfield, Calif., awards $200 in cash to drivers of the cars judged best appearing in both divisions. Speedway Motors gives $100 gift cards to all drivers entering the contest while Sweet Manufacturing awards an ignition box to the Modified winner. Both the Modified and Northern SportMod winners will be announced during pre-race ceremonies on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Boone Speedway.
