Potential IMCA Modified payoff tops $5,000 at Hogan Memorial

VINTON, Iowa – The winner of one of the longest-running special events for IMCA Modifieds could earn more than $5,000 for their pre-holiday efforts.

Benton County Speedway in Vinton hosts the 24th annual Hogan Memorial on Tuesday, July 3. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying main event pays a minimum of $2,333 to win.

Fifty dollars will be paid to the leader of each of the feature’s 50 laps with an increased bonus of $450 plus a new Hoosier G-60 tire going to the leader when the race is stopped at halfway.

The feature is also a Harris Dash at the Clash qualifier. In addition, the Hogan pays $983 for se­cond, $808 for third, $683 for fourth and $558 for fifth. Minimum start money is $283.

Also on the program are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars running for $1,000 to win and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, both for $750 to win.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Iowa State points will be awarded. Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and SportMods also chase track points. There is no entry fee and all classes are draw/redraw.

IMCA and Bob Harris Enterprises give the halfway Modified bonus. There’s also a bonus of $100 for the Northern SportMod leader at halfway.

Hard charger awards are $450 for the Modifieds and $125 for both the Stocks and the SportMods; Modified, Stock Car and SportMod heat race wins are each worth $100 while Hobby Stock heat wins pay $50.

Regardless of how they fare on the track, the Stock Car driver making the longest tow to Vinton takes home $80.

Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12, with five and under admit­ted free. Pit passes are $25. Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. and rac­ing to follow.

Nezworski nabs IMCA Late Model checkers at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 24, 2022) – Andy Nezworski made the most of the lone appearance for the IMCA Sunoco Late Models this season at Benton County Speedway. The southeast Iowa racer ran down race-long leader Dalton Simonsen and stole the lead with two laps remaining to take the thrilling win on the quarter-mile. From his pole position start, Simonsen rocketed into the lead and quickly pulled way from the pack while Nezworski battled Bobby Hansen over numerous laps for second. Just shy of the midway point of the 20-lapper, Nezworski slipped past Hansen, but was running 2.2 second behind Simonsen by the time he made his way into the runner-up spot. Bullring opener set for Sunday

VINTON, Iowa – With the annual season-opening Frostbuster special in the books, the weekly points opener is next on the schedule at the Benton County Speedway Bullring this Sunday, April 18. Five IMCA sanctioned divisions are set to do weekly battle on the Bullring throughout the 2021 season, including the 96.5 KISS Country Modifieds, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company, Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto, Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Kwik Star and Mach-1 Sport Compacts presented by Auto Crafters.  Pit gate and grandstand both open at 3 p.m., with hot laps at 5:40 and racing to follow. General grandstand admission is $13, seniors and veterans $11 and students ages 6-14 $5. Kids five and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Pit passes are $30. Cordes, Grady sweep championship night honors at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 22) – A number of close points battles were finally settled as champions were crowned on the final night of racing for the 2021 season at Benton County Speedway. Troy Cordes and Cristian Grady made the most of the finale by locking up track titles with season championship feature wins on the fast, smooth, multi-grooved, quarter-mile Bullring. Features were lined straight-up based on season point totals, allowing those in contention for track titles to settle things from the front row. And in four of those divisions, margins of four points or fewer separated the top contenders entering the final night.
