The Dirt Works Race Cars Eastern Region point leader started 10th and raced to the checkers ahead of Myron DeYoung. Brady Hollenbeck rounded out the top three.
BOONE, Iowa – Harris Auto Racing returns as title sponsor for an event that’s become one of the most prestigious for IMCA Modified competitors. For a 12th consecutive season, the Boone, Iowa, chassis manufacturer and high performance parts retailer provides a portion of the purse to be paid at the Modified Race of Champions, on Sept. 8 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Qualifying for the 12-car, 12-lap, $1,000 to win race is Friday, Sept. 7 and is open to top drivers in local track standings competing at Super Nationals, former national, regional and Super Nationals champions, and to previous race winners. GILLETTE, Wyo. – Big IMCA Modified paydays are on the line each night of Gillette Thunder Speedway’s 19th annual East-West Clash. Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1 features pay $1,000 to win while the Sunday, Sept. 2 main event pays $1,500 to win. All three races are qualifying events for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $250 to win on Friday and Saturday and for $350 to win on Sunday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Wyoming state and track points will be awarded all three nights. Entry fee each day is $75 for Modifieds and $35 for Hobby Stocks. MANDAN, N.D. (Aug. 10) – Two was the magic number Friday night for Marlyn Seidler, as he scored his second IMCA Modified feature win of the season at Dacotah Speedway with a pass for the lead with two laps to go. Travis Peery started to pull away from the field early on, but cautions came early and often and worked in Seidler’s favor as he quickly moved through the field from ninth starting to second. Drivers calmed down after a lap eight restart and a fantastic battle for the lead played out between Peery and Seidler. They raced side-by-side until lapped traffic forced Seidler to follow Peery through the slower cars. Contact between Peery and a lapped car reset the field for a four-lap shootout. Another yellow regrouped the field with three laps to go but on the final restart of the night, Seidler looked to the outside of Peery. STOCKTON, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series braces for a huge, three-race weekend with the annual Bob Salem Memorial highlighting all the race action. It all begins Friday, Aug. 17 at Stockton Speedway before embarking to Oberlin Speedway Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19. It will be a pivotal weekend for the series points standings as just five events remain in the 2018 race season. Friday night’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event atop the Stockton Fairgrounds will pay $700 to win. He slid by Jeremiah Hurst and then Terry Neal to win the 25-lap Andover Meat IMCA Late Model feature. “We’re pretty much out of the national thing,” Nezworski said in victory lane. “We’re a ways back in the points and you have to win a track championship, which we won’t. So we just come out to win races. We’ve had some bad luck recently so this really feels good.” Neal took the top spot from Marty Scheckel early before Hurst passed following a restart about halfway through. JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 11) – On a beautiful night in the Siouxland, it was the beautiful white number seven IMCA Modified of Jay Noteboom rolling into victory lane at Park Jefferson Speedway. With his win, Noteboom tied Joe Kosiski at the top of the all-time win list at the Park Jefferson Speedway with 73 total checkers. There was no denying Noteboom, who started sixth, but in just two laps flew by front row starters Jason Schneiders and Harvey Vande Weerd to fly to a lead he would never relinquish. Noteboom opened a huge lead that was up to 8.5 seconds at one point. SHAWANO, Wis. (Aug. 11) – Sometimes it all just comes together. Nary a caution flag flew all night Saturday at Shawano Speedway as fans were treated to top-notch, on-track action. Dan Michonski brought home his third feature win to obtain the big $1,000 payday before a stout IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field full of multi-feature winners, track champions and national champions. Michonski was the class of the field, though, and led every lap en route to victory. The racing behind Michonski was hot and heavy with Travis Van Straten finishing second, Trent Nolan third, Gary Kasperek fourth, and Shawn Wagner fifth. Lance Arneson advanced 10 spots for his second IMCA Modified feature win of the year while Lucas Lamberies scored Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win number six, holding off Kyle Raddant to accomplish the feat.
LISBON, N.D. (Aug. 12) – After running third in his Northstar IMCA Modified Tour heat race at Sheyenne Speedway, Billy Kendall didn’t think Sunday would be his night. That wasn’t the case. Kendall drew another front row start, chased and got the lead back from Jarrett Carter, then stayed in front to the end of the 30-lapper at Lisbon. PORTLAND, Ind. – More than $10,000 in product certificates will be issued this season by Moser Engineering, to drivers in five IMCA divisions. The Portland, Ind., rear end components manufacturer and 15-year IMCA sponsor gives those awards based on national or regional point standings, and to competitors at 80 designated special events. Runners-up in each of the five IMCA Modified regions and in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions earn $300 product certificates; second place finishers in standings for both IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock regions and in national standings for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods all receive $200 certificates.
