Wilson pockets Tex Myers 8Ball Classic cash

By Justin Newman MURFREESBORO, Ark. (July 2, 2022) – Blake Wilson repeated his performance, this time not so easily, in the second annual Tex Myers 8Ball Classic presented by Myers Supply Saturday at Diamond Park Speedway. Wilson was able to top a field of 27 IMCA STARS Mod Lite drivers from Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana en route to his second $888 payday in the second year of the event at the proclaimed Mod Lite Capital of the World. Wilson started on row two of the 25-lap affair and had some work to do early on, contending with TWR teammate J.J. Borden, Louis Harris and Jace Reid. It was Reid who got out to the point early with Borden, Harris and Wilson in tow. Quick work put Wilson digging behind Borden for third and on lap three he settled in for second. On lap seven he slid under Reid and it was off to the races. The lead duo pulled away and started working the back of the field by lap nine before the race’s single caution flew [Read More]

‘Bad’ Brad best in Bradford NY-Penn Series July 3 show

By Todd Burgess  BRADFORD, Pa. (July 3, 2022) – It had been more than 20 years since Bradford Speedway had seen a sanctioned Friesen Performance IMCA Modified race, so the banked bullring nestled in the hills of rural Bradford, Pa., was a fresh face to most of the Close Racing Supply NY-Penn Series presented by Precision Hydraulic and Oil competitors. The July 3 Freedom 25 presented by Liberty Seamless Gutters & Roofing marked stop number six for the series and if anyone had predicted that defending series champion Brad Sites would be rolling into the pits at Bradford winless in 2022, they’d have gotten some strange looks.  After winning his heat race from the pole, things kept rolling Sites’ way as he reached in and pulled chip number one for the 25-lap main event and at the drop of the green, Sites immediately jumped out to a three car length lead over Jake McConnell, with Rodney Morgan close behind in third.  An early caution bunched the field back up and put it squarely on Sites’ rear [Read More]

Mullins saves best for last in Langley RaceSaver win

By Jim Haines HAMPTON, Va. (July 2, 2022) – The annual Fourth of July Weekend event for the Virginia Sprint Series was a show case for patience as Matt Mullins led early, gave it up to save his tires and then blasted back by with a few laps to go for the win Saturday at Langley Speedway.  Chris Humblet and Mullins had paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Mullins out first and Humblet and Jerald Harris in tow.  Mullins was smooth out front as Harris got to second and Billy Hubbard followed. Hubbard made it to second and took off like a jet after Mullins, who was catching the back of the pack as the pavement laps really clicked off. Mullins stayed smooth and straight as Hubbard showed speed but also tire smoke and at lap 15 he found the lead as Mullins stayed on plan.  Hubbard was on it lap after lap as Mullins kept him in range and as the tires were going away he pounced. Mullins really closed in [Read More]

Schulte returns to Benton County Speedway victory lane

VINTON, Iowa (July 3, 2022) – In his most recent trip to Benton County Speedway, Mark Schulte ended his night upside down and with a car needing major repair.  His return to The Bullring Sunday night resulted in a trip to victory lane. From his front row start, Schulte assumed command at the drop of the green in the 20-lapper for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Schulte paced the field while his pursuers jockeyed for position behind him. Nicholas Carpenter challenged early and Ryan Maitland pressured late following a couple cautions, however Schulte drove away over the final laps to secure his first win of the year. Maitland ran second at the line ahead of a charging Dylan Thornton. Chris Zogg ran fourth. Dylan VanWyk and San Wieben battled through the early stages of the 15-lapper for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. The lead pair exchanged sliders and the top spot before VanWyk escaped to victory. Ben Chapman raced his way past Wieben to finish second and Tony Olson came home fourth. Bradly Graham raced the [Read More]
