Benton County XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour race postponed

VINTON, Iowa (May 13) – Blame all that rain on Monday and this morning’s unseasonably cool temperatures for postponement of tonight’s XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Benton County Speedway. The fifth annual tour for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds was to have opened Tuesday at Vinton. That race will now be rescheduled on a date to be determined. First night for the series will now be on Memorial Day Monday, May 26 at I-35 Speedway in Mason City. The feature pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $150 to start and is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the holiday card.

Dailey delivers with late pass in Fairmont North Star show

FAIRMONT, Minn. (May 9) – Tenth starting Eric Dailey was first following a green, white, check­ered finish to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature in Friday’s Redline Racing Parts North Star Series feature at Fairmont Raceway. After running third much of the way, Dailey had slipped into second before getting caught in a multi-car tangle on the 25th and final circuit. He went low and caught leader Josh Meyer on the final turn for the victory, his series career and division-leading fifth. Meyer, Jay Noteboom, Roger Nielsen and Tad Reutzel completed the top five. Nielsen also ad­vanced nine positions while Reutzel was a plus seven spots. Derek Green started on the pole and led all 15 times around the track in topping the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. Kay’s Deery Series tires pass lab test

VINTON, Iowa (May 8) – The tires that took Justin Kay to the checkers in Sunday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Quad City Speedway passed testing at an independent laboratory with flying colors. Tire samples were sent for chemical testing. “We have results from the lab, which verified the tires were legal,” Tour Director Kevin Yoder said. “Race results have been declared official and Justin has been paid the $3,000 for his win.” Random tire sampling will continue throughout the IMCA Late Model tour as well as at events for other sanctioned divisions this season.

Benton County Speedway hosts May 13 XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour opener

VINTON, Iowa – Opening night brings the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour back to the first track the IMCA Modified division called home. The Tuesday, May 13 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature at Benton County Speedway pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $150 to start, and is a qualifying event for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Previous tour winners at Vinton include Vern Jackson of Waterloo in 2011, Jeff Waterman of Quincy, Ill., in 2012 and Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa last May. BREWERTON, N.Y. (May 7) – The Empire State Series runs for the first time under the Friesen Chevrolet banner this Friday, when touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds travel to Brewerton Speedway. The May 9 feature pays $400 to win, a minimum of $75 to start and doubles as the Dean Hubbs Memorial. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Donnelly wins 1st, Yeager wins 15th in EQ Wild West Tour opening twinbill

DELTA, Utah (May 2-3) – A first-time winner and a regular visitor to victory lane prevailed when the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour opened at Millard County Raceway. Jake Donnelly regained the lead from Justen Yeager and took the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers for his career first tour triumph on Friday. Yeager, a three-time series champion, battled Casey Delp and Randy Artz en route to the front, then captured his 15th career WWMT win ahead of Michael Hale on Saturday. Both 30-lap features paid $1,000 to win. Donnelly is new to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot while Yeager was already vote eligible. The high line took Donnelly to the front twice. EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 4) – Justin Kay was challenged but never caught in Sunday’s Hershel Roberts Memorial Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Quad City Speedway. Kay started on the pole and led all 58 laps of the IMCA Late Model tour event, held in memory of the popular East Moline driver and car owner. Sticking to the lower line all around the oval, the tour point leader took the $3,000 checkers in front of a very full grandstand and ahead of Jeff Aikey, hard charger Joel Callahan, Mike Murphy Jr. and defending series champion Brian Harris. Jason Rauen nipped at Kay’s heels before falling back. Aikey came from 12th starting and Callahan from 17th to join Murphy and Harris in their pursuit of the leader. DELTA, Utah (April 29) – The eighth annual EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour opens this weekend at Millard County Raceway, with a pair of $1,000 to win features for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Pit gates at Delta open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow.
