EQ Wild West Tour opens with doubleheader at Delta

DELTA, Utah (April 29) – The eighth annual EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour opens this weekend at Millard County Raceway, with a pair of $1,000 to win features for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds.

Pit gates at Delta open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow.

Both features are qualifying events for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and all applicable IMCA points will be awarded.

Spectator admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors 60 and over, $5 for students ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under. Pit passes are $30 for drivers and $20 for crew members.

Series winners last season at Delta were Ricky Alvarado of Delta, Colo., and Dustin Hansen of Myton.

Alvarado became a three-time tour champion in 2013 and now leads all drivers with 31 WWMT career checkers.

Half a dozen doubleheaders are on the series schedule this season. Sweetwater Speedway at Rock Springs, Wyo., hosts May 30 and 31 events.
