July 4 Shootout at Texarkana 67 pays IMCA Modified winner $2,000

TEXARKANA, Ark. – IMCA Modifieds chase a $2,000 top check next Wednesday at Texarkana 67 Speedway’s 4th of July Shootout special. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods are also on the card. A fireworks display follows the race program. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Arkansas State and track points will be awarded. There is no entry fee for either IMCA division and pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 62 and over and military, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. More information is posted on Facebook.

Second half of season starts Saturday at Perris

By Scott Dalaiso PERRIS, Calif. – For the second time in the month of June, the PASSCAR Stock Car Series, featuring IMCA Modifieds, will be at Perris Auto Speedway. The Saturday, June 30 show marks the start of the second half of the season for the cars at the famous Riverside County 1/2-mile clay oval. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. and the first race will be at 7 p.m. Cory Sample, who lives in Winnemucca, Nev., and makes the nearly 1,200-mile round trip to Southern California to race at Perris, has a 31-point lead in the IMCA Modified point standings. Sample, who picked up his second Perris win at the last race on June 2, has only finished out of the top three one time in the first seven races of the year.  That came in May when he finished 11th  after contact with another car. In the other six races he has two wins, a couple second place finishes and a pair of thirds. Chuck Becker is second in points with Terry Hershberger third.

$5 wristband admission Saturday at Bethany

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo, – Bethany Speedway is the place to be this Saturday, June 30 for Toot Toot Family Restaurant and Lounge Night at the Races. A grandstand wristband from US 36 Raceway the night before gets fans grandstand admission at Bethany for only $5. Divisions in action include the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Intermission sees a watermelon eating contest for kids and kids at heart with prizes given throughout the crowd. The green flag drops at 8 p.m.

Breaking news for US 36 Sprint Car drivers 

By Rick Staley OSBORN, Mo. – Attention all IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers at US 36 Raceway … in a continued effort to get more Sprint Cars at the track, the following changes will take effect immediately: *IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will pay $650 to win and $250 to start the Feature. *All IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car restarts will now be single file after the initial green flag start, no more Delaware Double File Restarts. *The entry cutoff time for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will be moved from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for all those traveling a long distance after work. Track officials will make every effort to accommodate all those traveling and wishing to race at Osborn as US 36 continues to bring back winged Sprint Car racing to the area. Clough delivers at Dawson County 

LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 24) – Lining up on the outside of the front row was the launching pad Brandon Clough used to run away and hide from the rest of the IMCA Modified field Sunday at Dawson County Raceway. Clough rode the cushion and built up a comfortable lead during the non-stop action. Anthony Roth was second and David Murray Jr. third. Mike Nichols scored another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory and Jacob Olmstead collected his third straight feature win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. Luke Wassom raced from fourth row starting to finish first in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock headliner.

Thompson, Roth are IMCA winners at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 24) – Sunday racing action at Dubuque Speedway provided the fans with a thrilling night of action packed plenty of wheel-to-wheel action on Casey’s General Store Night at the Races. Derek Thompson found the tacky track to his liking in scoring the 20-lap Merfeld Auto IMCA Modi­fied feature. Thompson led the most laps in taking the checkers ahead of Austin Moyer and Matt Short.  Jason Roth won his second consecutive GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Roth took the point position after the midway portion of the 18-lap main and went on to cross under the flag stand ahead of Gage Neal and Troy Bauer.

Nolan nabs Stock Car honors at Shawano 

SHAWANO, Wis. (June 23) – Trent Nolan led a quintet of hard chargers to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers Saturday at Shawano Speedway. Kurt Olson led a majority of the race before a caution brought the field to his back bumper. The seventh starting Nolan grabbed the lead after and powered to the win. Rounding out the top five were ninth starting Jeremy Christians, 11th starting Rod Snellenberger, 10th starting Dan Michonski and 14th starting Travis Van Straten. Konnor Wilinski was the IMCA Modified winner and Jordan Barkholtz prevailed in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main.

Danley races to RaceSaver Sprint checkers at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 23) – Joey Danley became the first repeat IMCA Sprint RaceSaver Sprint Car winner of the season at Eagle Raceway Saturday night. Danley snagged the lead near midway and beat Trevor Grossenbacher to the checkers. “After two rough weeks we got it done again and that feels pretty good. The track was tacky and rough. It was a ‘Cowboy Up’ track, and that’s what we like because it puts the race in the hands of the driver,” Dan­ley said. “We started eighth and ran up to the front quick, but a couple of cars got crossed up there and Trevor got by me. GoFundMe started for injured TCMS employee

AUBURN, Mich. – On Friday, June 22, a member of the Tri-City Motor Speedway safety crew was injured during a rain delay in the regular Friday night race show. After a brief, unexpected rain shower, race officials announced a rain delay until the track conditions could be brought back to a safe racing condition. It was during this process where a worker, Pete Badgero, was injured after falling off the tractor he was driving. The safety crew saw this happen and immediately tended to Badgero with emergency medical attention. With the tractor still in gear, it continued across the track, which is where a video circulating the Internet picks up the event. This process of prepping the track is not very exciting so many people in the stands never saw Badgero fall. Their attention only turned when the suddenly unmanned tractor careened across the track into the retaining wall. Monday Night Spotlight shines at Stuart Speedway on July 2

STUART, Iowa – The spotlight shines on three IMCA divisions at Stuart Speedway’s Monday, July 2 Monday Night Spotlight special. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win in a feature that doubles as a 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and Harris Dash at the Clash qualifier. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both run for $700 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Iowa State points, but no track points will be given. The Monday Night Spotlight program will be broadcast by IMCA.TV and concludes with the 12th Dirt Dominator race. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.
