Monson wins fifth feature Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (July 5) – Oliver Monson won his fifth Mach-1 Sport Compact feature of the season at Kossuth County Speedway to highlight a big night of dirt track racing on Thursday in front of a nice crowd that concluded with the city’s fireworks show.

Monson grabbed the lead immediately and led the whole way in a race that went green, white, checkered.

Seth Eischeid had his best run of the summer to capture second as Alex Dostal was third.

Mike Van Genderen reeled Ryan Ruter in the late stages to win the IMCA Modified feature and Derek Green became the sixth different winner in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.

Matt Looft motored to local win number three in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Brandon Nielsen was the fourth and final different driver to lead the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main.

The night finished with 16 Modified and Northern SportMod drivers competing for $1,000 in Round 13 of the Dirt Dominator with Tad Reutzel, Kelly Shryock, Mat Hollerich and Ben Schultze reaching the semi-finals.

Shryock edged Reutzel in the first semi-final before Hollerich topped Schultze in the second semi-final to set up the finals as Shyrock defeated Hollerich to grab the first place prize winnings.

Season champions crowned at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 20) – In the final evening of dirt track racing of the summer Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway, unofficial season champions were crowned in each of the divisions. Kaytee DeVries overcame a three-point deficit by earning her fourth feature win of the season to edge Lucas Parsons by one point for the Mach-1 Sport Compact championship.  The early leader in the 12-car feature was A.J. Myott as the caution came out on lap five with Myott still in the lead. Off the restart, DeVries grabbed the lead and went onto the victory.  Myott held on for a runner-up finish as Jade Lange was third.  The closest feature of the evening was in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Salute to Veterans checkers fly for Logue following first Kossuth County feature win 

By Greg Grabianowski  ALGONA, Iowa (July 21, 2022) – It was great night that started early with a loud bang that most people thought was fireworks and ended in the wee hours of the next morning with a louder bang after a great evening of dirt track racing.  The sixth annual Salute to Veterans Hunting with Heroes Night on Thursday at the Kossuth County Speedway was another home run. The event that has become the biggest event of the year of the track took place in front of a grandstand full of veterans and fans. Johnathon Logue and Randy Brands were $3,500 winners in the evening’s headline events, the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, respectively. Looft wins IMCA Northern SportMod special at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 29, 2023) – All summer long, Swea City’s Matt Looft has simply dominated the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division at Kossuth County Speedway. On Thursday night, things remained the same as Looft led 18 circuits of the 25-lap, $1,000 to win Wyffels Hybrid SportMod Special to highlight the evening of exciting dirt track racing. Justin Klynsma and Dustin West led the SportMod field to flag-stand for the green flag in the feature as Klynsma took the early lead with the yellow flag appearing early. The caution flag reappeared one lap later and also on lap number six for spins as Klynsma continued to lead the race with the ninth starting Looft lurking and looking for his opportunity. Lap number eight presented that chance and Looft moved to the front and pulled away from the field for his sixth feature win of the season at the track but his biggest payday so far.
