Duke delivers opening night PASS feature win

SPRING RUN, Pa. (March 23) – 2016 Pennsylvania Sprint Series champion Ken Duke Jr. gave notice that he’ll be in the hunt for a second championship in 2019, winning the season-opening feature event Saturday at Path Valley Speedway. Duke made a low-side pass of Kyle Ganoe just past the halfway mark in the race and worked lapped traffic over the final circuits to grab the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win. Ganoe held on for a runner-up finish, followed by hard-charging John Walp, Jeff Weaver and Devin Adams. Ganoe had grabbed the early lead from the pole, with outside front row starter Dave Grube spinning on the first lap. That moved Cale Reigle into second and that pair led the field for the first nine laps until a red flag for Kyle Keen’s tip-over after an incident with Austin Graby. IMCA Modifieds on Saturday card at Southern Raceway

MILTON, Fla. – Southern Raceway throws the green flag Saturday for the first race of the season in IMCA’s Dirt Works Eastern Region. IMCA Modifieds race for $500 to win the March 30 main event at Milton. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, E3 Spark Plugs Florida State and track points, as well as regional points will be awarded. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and military, $9 for students ages 13 to 17, $5 for kids ages six to 12 and free for five and under. McCrady takes charge at Dubuque Speedway, Sunday shows will feature five IMCA divisions

DUBUQUE, Iowa – New promoter Nick McCrady has a to-do list that starts with putting on an entertaining race program each and every Sunday this race season at Dubuque Speedway. “This is an awesome facility and we’re excited to work with the fair board here. Swenson slides ahead for I-37 feature win

Swenson, Cody Leonard and Nebraska’s Chad Andersen had a good three-car battle going for the top spot in the 20-lap IMCA Modified Dirt Kings main event. A caution set up a slide job duel between Swenson and Anderson as they swapped the lead for the final five laps before Swenson edged Andersen at the line to score the $1,000 win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. “That was crazy,” said Swenson. “Slide job city, really. U.S. 36 Raceway schedules practice for Wednesday, March 27

OSBORN, Mo. – U.S. 36 Raceway is adding a practice to the schedule Wednesday, March 27 from 6-10 p.m. After cancelling practice on Saturday, track officials want to allow drivers the opportunity to make some laps around the 3/8th mile oval before opening night. Pit gates will open at 5 p.m. and pit passes are $25. Practice is open to all classes of cars for the four-hour session. RPM hosts IMCA Hughes Sunflower Classic this weekend

HAYS, Kan. – The first green flag of the new season flies when RPM Speedway opens with its Mike ‘Huey’ Hughes Sunflower Classic on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win each night at Hays. Both features are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Stampede tire samples tested

VINTON, Iowa – Testing of tire samples taken at the Southern Stampede have determined both to conform with benchmarks for the Hoosier IMCA G-60 tire. Samples were taken at Southern Oklahoma Speedway from tires of IMCA Modified feature winners Jason Hughes and Ricky Thornton Jr. Testing was conducted at Blue Ridge Labs in North Carolina. “The nature of enforcing rules regarding the chemical treatment of tires is time consuming, tedious and can be expensive on a widespread scale,” noted IMCA President Brett Root, “but it’s important for our members to know it is an issue we constantly monitor and enforce.” “It’s easy for rumors and speculation about cheating to end up in the court of public opinion through social media channels,” he added. “Our member drivers want to know and demand to know we’re testing.” “They need to have faith in our system and know that the winners of our most prestigious events are not cheating,” concluded Root. “This is an excellent example of that.”

IMCA Modifieds to headline Arkansas Spring Nationals

BATESVILLE, Ark. – IMCA Modifieds run for $2,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths on both nights of Batesville Motor Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23 Arkansas Spring Nationals. Both features pay $1,500 to the runner-up. Minimum start money is $250. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region and E3 Spark Plug Arkansas State points will be awarded. The pit gate opens at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. each night. Ventura opening night honors go to Lauer

VENTURA, Calif. (March 16) – Danny Lauer was the winner of a fast and furious 20-lap IMCA Modified main event to open the season at Ventura Raceway. Austin Grabowski led laps one and two before Lauer took control and stayed in front to the finish, taking the win over 2018 track champion Trevor Fitzgibbon, who drove from the back of the field to finish second. Following Lauer and Fitzgibbon across the line were Dave Phipps, Austin Grabowski and Jack Parker.

PASS to open 2019 season March 23 at Path Valley Speedway

By Frank Buhrman SPRING RUN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Sprint Series will open its 21st season of competition on Saturday, March 23, at Path Valley Speedway, the first of more than 40 dates on the 2019 schedule. Pre-registrations indicate a strong field for that event, including at least half of the 2018 Top 10 in points and several drivers with past wins at the fast 1/4-mile track in northern Franklin County. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will run qualifying events and a 20-lap feature. General admission is $10 and $3 for children ages 10 and under. Other upcoming dates include Saturday, April 6 at Port Royal Speedway; Sunday, April 7 at BAPS Motor Speedway; Friday, April 12 at Williams Grove Speedway; and Saturday, April 13 at Path Valley.
