Hanson takes PASS thriller at Lincoln Speedway

(March 27) – Jaremi Hanson survived a fierce, multi-lap battle, and serious contact with Mikell McGee, then held off Doug Dodson’s last-lap challenge to win the Pennsylvania Sprint Series 20-lap feature for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars Saturday at Lincoln Speedway. Dodson came home less than a quarter of a second behind Hanson, with Dom Melair, who also had a shot at the leader before being passed by Dodson on the next-to-last lap, finishing third. McGee, who led the first six laps, was fourth, with North Carolina invader Daren Bolac fifth. Hanson had started outside the front row, but pole-starting McGee grabbed the early lead, with a fierce battle behind them for the next several positions. That battle collected Ohio’s Justin Clark, who backed into the second turn rail and rolled over on lap seven. He was not injured, but the car was done. Nagy rules opening event for Mid-Atlantic, PA Sprint series

(March 26) – Veteran Kevin Nagy started on the pole Friday night at Bridgeport Motorsports Park and held off multiple challenges and challengers to lead all 25 laps and score the feature win on Day 1 of the track’s Kingdom of Speed Weekend. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event was co-sanctioned by the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series, which hosted, and the Pennsylvania Sprint Series. Entries numbered 37. Nagy first fought off outside front-row starter Phil Meisner, then dealt with challenges from Rick Stief. Finally, Dave Brown took over second and mounted attacks on the race’s last two restarts, narrowly failing to displace the winner. At the checkers, Nagy led Brown across the line by 1.736 seconds, with Dom Melair finishing 1.205 seconds farther back in third, a position he held despite a broken front wing. Feature results – 1. Five races, five different winners: Shebester takes Oil Capital checkers at Lawton

By John Rittenoure LAWTON, Okla. (March 27) – Steven Shebester has run his share of laps around the Lawton Speedway. However, Saturday was his first time to race there with the AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, and it turned out to be a night to remember. Shebester worked his way from the sixth starting position to win his first career race with the series and become the fifth different winner in as many 2021 races after passing polesitter Whit Gastineau for the win. Finishing behind Gastineau was 2018 champion Alex Sewell, three-time champion Zach Chappell was fourth and opening weekend winner Joe Bob Lee rounded out the top five. Feature results – 1. Worthington Speedway welcomes back five IMCA divisions

WORTHINGTON, Minn. – The loyal contingent of IMCA drivers locally and from across a three-state area have a new Saturday venue in Worthington Speedway this season. Five sanctioned divisions fill 14 weekly race programs beginning May 22, with the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season continuing through Aug. 28. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts all return to the quarter-mile black dirt oval, located in the southwest corner of Minnesota. Drivers from Iowa and South Dakota will vie with home state competitors at Worthington. “Most of the local drivers are IMCA and a lot of the other drivers in the area run IMCA,” Fair Board President Corey Gronewold said in explaining the switch in weekly sanctions from USRA back to IMCA. “We chose to go with IMCA in all five classes because we have drivers in those divisions in this immediate area and didn’t want to leave anyone out.” While no specials are yet on the schedule, track officials are working with [Read More]

Cleveland rocks with new IMCA STARS Mod Lite sanction at 105

CLEVELAND, Texas – After a sprint by the new promotional team to get the track race-ready, IMCA STARS Mod Lites became the newest addition to Saturday race programs at 105 Motor Speedway. Chris Brown and Cleveland Motor Sports Group partners Joey Smith and Jesse McMorton, acquaintances who “morphed into a pretty good friendship,” took over the track, located north of Houston, less than two months ago. “It’s been an all-out sprint to get day-to-day stuff ready since then,” said Brown. “The division had already run here for a lot of years and the Mod Lite drivers came to us and asked about sanctioning with IMCA.” “In this area, there have been so many rule changes in different divisions. Weather will be Nebraska Dirt Crown winner

COLUMBUS, Neb. – Inclement weather will be the winner of the Nebraska Dirt Crown. With too much chance of rain and not enough sun back in the forecast, March 25-28 tour dates at Abe’s US 30 Speedway in Columbus, I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Beatrice Speedway and Thayer County Speedway in Deshler have been canceled. Tour officials are looking at dates to reschedule Nebraska Dirt Crown events.

Sewell wins on final night of Creek County Speedway Spring Fling

(March 20) – Alex Sewell became the fourth different AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car winner in four nights Saturday to close out the Spring Fling at Creek County Speedway. The 2018 series champion charged his way through the field from the eighth place starting position to win his 13th OCRS career feature, moving him into a third place tie with Sean McClelland on the career win list. Jase Randolph drove off the pole into the early lead while Sewell started his run through the field. In the final laps, Sewell was able to challenge Randolph and found a way to pass him for the victory. Randolph held on to second while current AmeriFlex/OCRS points leader Casey Wills finished third. Harris earns first Oil Capital victory with late pass for lead

(March 19) – Persistence paid off in a career-first AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory for Noah Harris Friday at Creek County Speedway. Harris chased down race-long leader Josh Tyre and finally passed him with three laps remaining for the lead and eventual victory. “I struggled around the bottom. I thought that is where we had to be,” Harris said of his early laps in the 25-lap race. “I ran a couple of laps down there then we went to the top.” That is when Harris started to advance. After a lap 12 restart, Harris drove around veteran Danny Wood for second and chased after Tyre. Boone County to remember Tanner Pelster at fair special

ALBION, Neb. – A life well lived that ended too soon will be celebrated at the biggest event in Boone County Raceway history. The annual fair race on July 11 doubles as the inaugural Tanner Pelster Memorial, and will remember a young man who always had a smile, a contagious laugh and countless friends. Just 24, the fourth generation driver from Albion died as a result of a work accident early last month. The son of Boone County promoter Delmer Pelster and wife Dee grew up with four older sisters and at a race track just a few blocks from home. “We were proud of Tanner. He was special, and a lot of people thought that way,” his father said. “He could make anybody smile. Tanner had friends all over the place.” This would have been Tanner’s ninth season in IMCA. Friday Oil Capital Racing Series show moved to Creek County Speedway

By John Rittenoure TULSA, Okla. – Due to over seven inches of rain at Caney Valley Speedway over the past weekend, the track will not be able to host the AmeriFlex /Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaveer Sprint Cars on Friday. Creek County Speedway has stepped up and will run the series both Friday and Saturday this week. On Friday, gates open at 4 p.m., sign-in from 5:30-6:30 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 6:45 p.m., hot laps at 7:15 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. And on Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m., Sign-in is from 3:30-4:30 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 4:45 p.m., hot laps at 5:15 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. Mufflers are mandatory both nights. Both nights are standard $1,000 to win, $225 to start feature events.
